Pau + filler for Love? What are the ramifications?

Discuss!

Why would Minnesota ever do this?

Why would Minnesota ever do this?

1) Ricky Rubio's Relationship with Gasol

2) David Kahn headed out, team may be heading in new direction.

3) Love has shown frustration with the front office and team management.

No it is not. Saying Pau+ filler means nothing. Pau alone is close to 20 mil. Pau plus filler is like 22 mill. Love is 14.7 mill. So thats adding at least 6 mill of fillers with love.

In no way would Minny ever do that. If pau is traded it will be for a few role players. No all stars and maybe a 2nd round pick.

His knee's are almost destroyed and his game has gone WAY down. The only thing thats going for him is that this is his last year in his contract and that would expire. Thats 19+ mill off the total salarie in 2014 which is a great FA year. Personally I would not want to waste another year with pau. We can do much more with a few role players.

both ricky rubio and phil adelman love gasol. he put on a good enough showing without Kobe that may make him look serviceable to someone else. as they say, one's trash is another's treasure.

he's also 20 million off the books for the 2014-2015 season if he doesn't work out...

i'm confident mitch can put together something nice to pitch, whether it's Love or somebody else... as long as Gasol is GONE!

Kahn getting canned is what the Wolves needed to keep Love.

Hard to get legit role players, when Lakers can only offer mini-mle, vets, mle

1) I'll give this to you.

2) If they want to rebuild (and they don't want to start all over again actually), will a 32 year old Pau clearly on the decline be the best piece?

3) So you're implying Pau is the best they can get for Love, which is simply not true.

Do people forget Minneapolis is colder than an Otter Pop? It still baffles me that some players (especially one from LA) would want to live there.

Love is a bit of a stretch. But, who knows. If he hates it in Minny and LA throw in Hill and Meeks and take on a bad-ish deal i think they'd consider it. If they then resigned Peckovic and Bundinger, they could be very dangerous.

I think they would love to have Pau, though. And if they somehow could land him, without giving up Love, i think they would do it. Perhaps they would give up a few good players and a first-round draft pick to get him?

Kirilenko, Derrick Williams and a first rounder for Pau?

The only reason Minny would want Pau is for his expiring contract. His relationship with Rubio is irrelevant because they would not expect to win anything with Pau over Love.

They take in Pau, let his contract expire, stack up on draft picks (don't know their current situation right now with that) and have a nice summer 2014.

The thing is though, no real superstar has an itch to play in Minnasota, so having tons of cap space isn't really going to get them too far. They would do better rebuilding through the draft, so a trade where Love would be exchanged for a top 5 draft pick makes much more sense for them. Mitch can still use his magic though in this case, where a 3 team trade is done with Pau going to that 3rd team who owns a nice pick, Love coming to LA, and some fillers and pick(s) to Minny.
