He shouldn't care about attention, he should care about winning championships and MDA is a GREAT hindrance to that.

Lol yea its really that simple huh.  If Dwight leaves the Lakers are out of any rebuilding asset.  Even if he doesn't become that championship cornerstone he is a huge trade asset later.  Max capspace means very little when there aren't any gamechanger free agents available in 2014 and the only ones in 2015 are players that would compliment Dwight.  None of those guys are cornerstones for a ring.  Another thing to consider is that LA is out of draft picks for like 3 of the next 6 seasons.  So even if they are a bad team they arent lucking up on any real draft prospects.

oh well if he leaves

Lebron James can be a free agent, same with Carmelo Anthony.

The Houston Rockets are once again going to swing for the fences this offseason when it comes to targeting the top free agents. There have been several reports linking the Rockets and Dwight Howard and Sunday Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle noted that the team also has plans to go afterChris Paul, too.

“They are targets No. 1 and 1A," a source told Feigen.

The Rockets may go after both Howard and Paul, however they don't have enough salary cap room, unless they trade a few players -- Omer AsikThomas Robinson or Jeremy Lin -- and if the top two 2013 free agents agree to take less than the max deals they are eligible to sign. At this time Howard is a realistic possibility of leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, but getting Paul to say goodbye to the Los Angeles Clippers is a major long-shot.

BTW it looks like Houston are looking to make a strong push for both CP3 and Howard. I think the only way this happens is if the Houston does a sign-and-trade with Lakers for Howard and then sign CP3 as a FA.

If Dwight is leaving, i guess it would be in LAs best interest to get the best possible deal out of Houson - even if it means creating cap-space for them to sign CP3.

You mention Lebron and Carmelo as if they are just some guys that will easily sign here.  For one Carmelo is not a player that is taking a team anywhere at 30 on his own.  Lebron is a long shot as well.  He has the same incentives to stay in Miami as Dwight in LA.  LA plans cant be to surround Dwight with those 2, seeing that it is contingent on them walking away from their own teams.

I'd love to see Lebron come to LA but you cant go into 2014 with that as the end all be all especially when he has to walk away from an equally or more successful situation.

We better be getting Harden then if that's the case.

Outside of him and Parsons, a trade with Houston does nothing for the Lakers.

Harden is the most overrated guy in the league, and by far.

Well, we'd be able to surround Nash, Kobe and Pau with a handfull of roleplayers, some of whom are good defenders as well as perhaps get a first round pick. This, of course, is only if the Rockets are going all-in with CP3, Harden and Dwight.

Oh okay.

Doesn't change the fact you don't trade Dwight for anything less than him.

RT @ESPNSteinLine: No teams or fines were listed in league memo. But Hawks fined for letter to season-ticket holders. Rockets fined for stories on team website

Fines are stupid in this case, if you really want to punish them, make it where you can't place bids on the player(s) you tampered with

Harden overrated?

Um, O.K..  The guy has brought something new to his game each season he's been in the league and his leadership skills are growing by leaps and bounds right now.  Go-to guy in the clutch, not afraid to take control of a game or a game winning shot, works on both ends of the floor every second, never complains about time played or anything basketball related and he makes all players on the court around him better than they are without him there.  Houston had no business being as good as they were last season.  90% of that is due to the presence of James Harden.

You are beyond wrong about Harden being overrated.

Without Westbrook the Thunder were definitely crippled, but if Harden were still there they would've gotten by the Grizzlies no problem.

I am near 100% sure Dwight remains in L.A., but if in some weird world he does leave and the Lakers can work out a sign and trade for Harden - I am 100% behind that.

Unfortunately no personnel move helps this team until D'Antoni is gone.  As long as he is on the bench supposedly "coaching", the Lakers are going nowhere - fast.

P.S. - The fines have nothing to do with being "Money hungry" they are fines for rules these guys know back and forth.  They're idiots for violating those rules, flat out idiots.  This is why certain teams always remain in the middle or the bottom - poor management.
