Magic responds per Bill Simmons:

Bill Simmons @BillSimmons 29m

Magic Tweet #3: "I'm disappointed in Dwight's decision, but I'm excited about all the cap space the Lakers will have in the summer of 2014!"

Magic Tweet #2: "Laker Nation - don't worry, we'll be back stronger than ever with the leadership of Kobe Bryant + Pau Gasol."

Magic Tweet #1: "Good luck to Dwight Howard with the Houston Rockets."

These next 3 tweets are from my NBA Countdown teammate @magicjohnson - he's in Europe and can't get on Twitter. (I'm his Twitter proxy.)

How the hell you gonna be happy $30 Million Dollars poorer with a bad back?

Well having to look at Mike D Antoni every day wont make anybody happy.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

That too. I was posted it in response to what Majesty had quoted that dwight chose houston because he wants to behappy playing basketball. From what I got from that message, he wanted to play like there's no pressure.

But in reality, in order to win, he needs to work.

When he says stuff like that it makes me feel like it doesn't even matter if we'd gotten Phil or not in terms of his decision.

When he says stuff like (2-3 years from now would be the perfect time(to be a Laker)) it makes me feel like, all that other stuff wouldn't have mattered unless we'd won a championship this year.

Maybe the Lakers knew it too.

To me, that was a shot at the Lakers' roster. 2-3 years ago, Kobe and Pau would be in their prime. 2-3 years from now, the Lakers would have younger players.

I think Dwight wanted to play with players closer to their prime.

The last thing I asked Dwight Howard tonight was if he had a message for L.A. ...

“I want to thank all the fans," Howard told ESPNLA.com in a phone interview Friday night after informing the Houston Rockets he would be signing with them.

"I want to thank them for supporting me through the good times, the bad times, the airballs, the missed shots, the missed dunks – everything that could have went wrong did and the fans still supported me. I developed a lot of relationships with a lot of people throughout the city of Los Angeles and a lot of Laker fans around the world.

"I appreciate them for sticking by me. I know a lot of people are going to be upset and a lot of people are going to hate me for doing this, but I just want to say thank you (to Los Angeles) from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate the support. Everybody here was great to me and this decision had nothing to do with anything but me having to do what’s best for my career and that’s (Houston) at this point.”

A Superman that runs from a challenge. Must be bizzaro. Shaq is the only real Superman.

If Kobe could only have one more poster dunk, I would like it to be on him.

^ not only that but I really don't think he was comfortable playing next to Pau.

I know everyone says Pau was the one with the problem but I honestly think Dwight didn't like playing with Pau either.

He basically said in the interview that what appealed to him most was the Rockets style reminding him of the Orlando Magic style. He said that the Houston Rockets style is what he ran in Orlando just with the addition of James Harden.

he expects them to run 4 out 1 in with him.

That is very telling.

The Lakers obviously can't run that with Dwight and Pau and when we did all Pau got was mid range jumpers which he missed.

But if 4 out 1 in basketball is what appeals to Dwight the most then it makes you wonder if Pau still being here had to do with his decision as well.  He wasn't gonna tell them to move Pau but he obviously wanted a style where the paint was COMPLETELY open for him which is probably why he was fine with Pau coming off the bench.

He basically saiod the Rockets are "The Orlando Magic but we got James Harden too".  So Dwight sees it as he's surrounded by 3 point shooters, and gets the ability to feed them from the post for open shots, while having James Harden who can iso on his own.  Pretty much what he did in Orlando.

if that's what Dwight always wanted the only way we could give him that would have been getting rid of Gasol for Ryan Anderson or something like that
