if Dwight is gonna go I hope its Golden State...we can get Barnes/Thompson/Bogut's expiring + 2014 1st round pick (they gonna have to fetch it from a 3rd team I dont think they have one of their own). You rebuild but its a very fast rebuild, 2014 you're back to being a title contender

imo I don't think that the Lakers would be able to get both Barnes AND Thompson with Bogut and a pick, it'd probably be one or the other. Since it sounds like Golden State has other teams willing to take on the contracts of Bogut, Biedrins and Jefferson, it doesn't seem like the Lakers can use as much leverage to get a deal involving those three players.

He's good as gone. Enjoy goofing around wherever it is he picks.

Very disturbing to hear that...Stein/Shelburne were all over the Rivers to the Clippers story from the get go to the finish so its a credible report

It was actually Stephen A Smith who called Doc Rivers to Clippers before Stein/Shelburne did but nevertheless still I think Lakers and Laker fans know by now Dwight is gone.

Like I said, when and where did Dallas become a threat?

If Howard leaves, then we need to receive somebody like Barnes or Klay without a doubt. They're cheap and a good building block for future. Better than getting absolutely nothing. The Lakers have always gotten someone new of value out of their departing players, like how we got Odom when Shaq left. Howard leaving LA with nothing would hurt.

Don't know that anyone in NBA circles really believed Lakers would NEVER talk sign-and-trade. Kupchak too smart not to explore all options

Should be an intertsting next few days. I just really hope he announces his decision tomorrow. I'm sick of reading all of these different reports saying where he is most likely to go.

Announce it already so we can move on and look forward to next season!

Not a fan of Bogut. He's decent when he's healthy, but chances are he's out for 50-60 games next season with some form of injury. At least he's expiring though.

I hope the Lakers enjoy MDA, Pau, and Nash.

Like I've said in this topic before, I think those guys cost the Lakers Dwight Howard. I like those guys less than I already did.

Three rival execs told ESPN tonight they think that Warriors ARE capable of trading Bogut, Jefferson and Biedrins if LA won't sign-and-trade

^ yeah its obvious that Kupchak would explore all options

At the same time the story that they'd explore all options is put in a way that tries to sell that "The Lakers are looking for sign and trades for Dwight!"

The situation is "If Dwight bolts, the Lakers acknowledge they'll explore sign and trades"

but they try to make the story sound like "Lakers know Dwight is leaving! Currently looking for Sign and Trades!"

I'd like to see them do that instead of constantly trying to offer sign and trades to us which would send the opposite message.

If he leaves next season isn't exactly going to be a season to look forward to.

I hear you. But when he does play, and if/when he's healthy, he's definitely a hustle player. Last postseason he made some really big effort plays, even diving out of bounds for the ball, making good defensive plays, etc. He's a good player so even if the Warriors keep him it'd be good for GS. If the Lakers got him he'd be a solid player, especially if healthy.

Also know Rockets, w/Lin & Asik to pitch Lakers & potential third-team facilitators, will offer various scenarios for S-and-T consideration

LA has been bracing for the worst since day 1. That's called being smart. I don't think that's groundbreaking

It'd be stupid to think LA hasnt had a contingency plan from the beginning

I agree. He can be very servicable if he stays healthy. We probably wouldnt use him much on offense but his defence has always been a strong part of his game. I remember some of the huge defensive plays he had on Tim Duncan during the play offs. Even though we wouldnt renew his contract, he could definiely help up for a season and make up competetive. You can always use a defensive minded big man.
