Pau Gasol has one season remaining on his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and hopes to return even though he could be dealt in the offseason.

"I would like to be a part of another championship team here, but it is not totally up to me," Gasol said.

"We could definitely get it done [if the roster stayed intact], but I would be pretty surprised if there was no changes whatsoever. I would be surprised if that happens."

Gasol said he had "certain desires that [Phil Jackson] would be chosen" to replace Mike Brown instead of Mike D'Antoni.

Gasol and Jackson remain in frequent contact.

The hate on Pau is partially justified, but pairing two of the most dominant 7 footers in the league together is a strength that we should utilize. Pau's issues have been essentially all mental; his contribution to the '09 and '10 championships was not a fluke.

With the right system and coaching Dwight and Pau can be one of the most dominant forces in the league, especially with athletic, durable, and intelligent players around them. And this is not even taking into account Kobe's presence on the floor.

If D'Antoni is here, 99.9% sure he is gone.

You guys should have listened to 710 yesterday. There was a caller who actually recommended we get rid of everybody but Earl Clark and build around him. Everyone.

i love Gasol, been a fan of his even in his Memphis days. It'll hurt to see him go after all he has done, but it just has to happen.

Lakers are getting rid of Pau.  I put money on it.  Especially if they keep Mike D and from all the exit interviews and press conference I've heard so far, it seems like Mike D Antoni will be the coach for the all next year.   Players not liking it. Fans not liking it. But it is what it is.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.
