Question

We've been talking about the people the Lakers could use that mMLE on.  I got another name for you that no one's really mentioned yet.

What do you guys think of Gerald Henderson?

his contract is up with the Bobcats and he made about 3 million this year.

Should we take a run at the guy?   6'5 but super athletic. 44% shooter from the field, an "meh" three point shooter but nothing special.

New Shannon?  Worth getting?

^ Yeah Majesty if the Bobcats renounce his rights then we may have a shot. But he is a restricted free agent. His qualifying offer is 4 mill so we can't match that if they offer that let alone more. His current contract is MMLE type money at 3 mill so if they did renounce him and he became an unrestricted free agent we could convince him 1 year at MMLE. Then the next year he could get more with our extra cap space. If he's out for a payday then we ain't in the running. Quite normal if he is. However being drafted by the Cats, he may want to play for a contender after spending years losing lol. That could be our chance at him. Then again other contenders could make a run at him as well. With all that being said I'd be all for them pursuing Henderson if it's possible. He is a young athletic wing that can play. He can even dunk on Dwight at practice if D12 is still here lol.

No way is Henderson going to be had for less than like $5m...Charlotte would definitely re-up with him.

Seeing Devin Harris made me think like what happened to that dude? He was so good with Utah and New Jersey. I feel really bad for him, he has so much potential.

Yeah pretty much why most have not mentioned him as a possible target. I saw him as 2013 free agent a while back and thought we might have a shot until I saw he was restricted. Even if he is renounced and becomes unrestricted, still many teams and contenders that can entice him with MLE over our MMLE. Bobcats will look to hold onto him I'd say. Would love to have him if it was possible but at present may be unlikely.

David West Open To Staying With Pacers

David+West+Indiana+Pacers+v+New+York+Kni

Posted by: Mark Montieth

It’s not a subject anyone wants to discuss in too much detail with playoff games still to play, but it looms on the horizon.

David West, the Pacers’ acknowledged locker room leader and vital power forward, becomes a free agent at the end of the season. Without question, losing the 32-year-old guru would be a blow to a team that appears to have such a promising future. Pacers’ management officials want to keep him, and believe they’ll be able to afford him, but what about West? Would he chase a larger contract elsewhere?

“I’ll address that at the end of the season and focus on finishing this year as best as possible,” he said Saturday after contributing 11 points and 12 rebounds to the Pacers’ 82-71 victory over New York at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. “But I love it here, love this group of guys, this environment, love the core group that we have. This group only has room to get better.”

West is earning $10 million this season in the back end of a two-year deal. The Pacers have $49 million committed in player salaries for next season. The luxury tax threshold this season is just over $70 million, but has not been determined for next year.

Does he expect the franchise to be able to pay him his market value, whatever that turns out to be?

“I don’t know,” he said. “I haven’t given it much thought. Just trying to make sure I focus on finishing this year as well as we can. I’ll just deal with all that when it’s time to deal with it. When it’s on the table, we’ll eat.”

His hope is that he’s served something palatable.

“This group, the mix of young guys that we have, and obviously the character of these guys, what these guys are, it fits me, so …”

Bulls Will Buy Out Richard Hamilton

Richard+Hamilton+Chicago+Bulls+v+New+Yor

Richard Hamilton scored 15 points in 35 minutes of the Chicago Bulls' Game 5 loss to the Miami Heat, and he knows he likely does not have a future with the organization.

The Bulls will buy out Hamilton for $1 million this offseason.

Hamilton has said he hopes to play two more seasons.

"Even though the last two weeks have been hard, my teammates have been great," Hamilton said. "They were so supportive of me and dumbfounded by the situation. They kept me going."

Hawks To Seek Sign-And-Trade Scenarios For Josh Smith

Josh+Smith+Indiana+Pacers+v+Atlanta+Hawk

The Atlanta Hawks enter the offseason with Josh Smith's free agency amongst their most pressing issues.

The Hawks will likely seek sign-and-trade packages involving Smith in order to receive assets in return.

The Hawks also have cap space and are expected to pursue Dwight Howard.

Smith will be an unrestricted free agent.

Greg Oden 'Looks Ready To Go'

Oden_Greg_por_090421.jpg

Greg Oden is attempting to return to the NBA after not playing since 2009.

Oden has received interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat, amongst other teams.

Deshaun Thomas, who attended Ohio State like Oden, said on Thursday that the two have been working out.

"Man, he looks unbelievable," he said at the draft combine. "He's running. He's lifting weights. You might be seeing a comeback. He looks like he's ready to go. He's running, getting in shape. I'll tell you one thing. For a big 7-footer that's all he does, running and getting in shape. He's looking right."

Clippers Expected To Pursue David West

David+West+Indiana+Pacers+v+New+York+Kni

By Marc Stein
ESPN.com

Among the immediate concerns for the Indiana Pacers heading into the Eastern Conference finals against Miami is the state of David West's right calf. One of the longer-term worries, though, is West's forthcoming free agency.

The Pacers' veteran leader openly loves his situation in Indiana, which certainly gives Indy justified cause for optimism when it comes to re-signing the 32-year-old this summer. Yet the whispers are already swirling that Chris Paul's Los Angeles Clippers, in particular, are going to make a hard run at West in the offseason.

Indy will certainly have the ability to pay West more to convince its locker-room sage to stay, given that the Clips would presumably have to structure an offer with the $5.15 million midlevel exception available to nontax teams. But you have to figure that the former Hornet -- who rose to All-Star prominence playing alongside CP3 -- is going to want to hear the details of a proposal pitching a reunion with his old point guard ... as long as Paul himself, of course, decides to stay. If Paul re-signs with the Clips as most league insiders continue to expect, L.A. will be seeking to add the final piece or two to cement itself as a contender with some staying power.

Yet Indy's brass must feel some reassurance when it hears West say things like he said in the wake of the New York series when he described the Pacers as "the most together group I've ever been a part of."

Tony Allen Hopes To Re-Sign With Grizzlies

Tony+Allen+Los+Angeles+Clippers+v+Memphi

Tony Allen will be an unrestricted free agent at season's end, but the 31-year-old defensive specialist would prefer to remain a Memphis Grizzly.

"I don't even understand the business side," Allen said. "When July hits, somebody is going to have to sit me down and explain it. All I know is I'm a Grizzly and I believe I'm going to be a Grizzly when it's over with.

"I bleed blue. I think they going to keep me. But if they don't, I understand.

"I don't even think about it now. I just play. I love being in Memphis. I love the city. Hopefully I stay here. It feels like home."

Allen is earning a reported $3.3 million this season.

Tony Allen would be awesome, though at 31 he probably is going to decline a bit going forward.

I think the best bet would be to sign Ronnie Brewer to the Vets minimum and Dorrell Wright for the mini-midlevel. That way we get both a defender/ballhandler and a defender/shooter.
