Man, back-up PFs get no love in this new CBA

Haslem,Lo,tyrus, gooden were all like 7 million dollar guys in the old CBA, same with Kenyon

Tyrus Thomas would be a good pickup!

How about a guy like Mike Miller who just got amnestied from the Heat? I know he is old as hell but we could really use a shooter of his calibre.

people say Centers are the extinct position. i'd argue it's the PF position that's extinct

people either have SFs who can play SF and PF and they put PFs at center

now obviously they aren't extinct in the literal sense but what i mean is the PF has essentially become the RB of the NBA. used to be important but now people consider them expendable commodities that they can have players handle by comittee

So what do we need at this point?

I dont really trust Sacre and rookie Ryan Kelly and who knows how long Kobe will be to get back.

IMO we need another wing (CDR or Ronnie Brewer) and a 4th big who can defend (K-Mart, Odom or Tyrus Thomas).

Then we'd have:

PG Nash/Blake/Farmar

SG Kobe/Meeks

SF Young/Johnson/Brewer

PF Hill/Thomas/Kelly

C Pau/Kaman/Sacre

W/o pressure to win and a bit of luck regarding injuries i think that team could give many teams trouble.

The fact Brendan Wright is STILL out there and no words have been said since Dallas was supposedly re-signing him and then the news they are signing Dalembert... makes me wonder...

wishful wondering but still wondering.

Brendan Wright would be awesome. He was 5th in PER among centers last season  - 10 places ahead of Dwight.

Dallas wants to figure out the situation with Oden and Dalembert before signing back up Centers

Dallas owns Brandan Wright's Birds Rights, which means they can exceed the salary cap to re-sign him.  Right now, Dallas is still technically under the salary cap.  They will not officially re-sign Brandan Wright until they have used up all their remaining cap space.  They cannot do it earlier.

Even though Wright hasn't officially signed the papers, he has already agreed to terms (2-year $8 million).  For all intents and purposes, Brandan Wright is off the market.

Mullens to the Clips is scary. That's the one position they needed to fill up, now they have to avoid injury and hope they don't face a team with two good perimeter scorers.

A 7 footer who shoots 38% is supposed to be scary for the rest of the league?

They're getting quite balanced those butt-holes. They have a handfull of guys who can create space for CP3 and Griffin, but they'll struggle against teams with elite big men.

Crazy as it sounds, but the Lakers could give them trouble. Skilled 7-footers like Pau and Kaman give them trouble and they have no answer for Kobe either. Not that we have an answer for CP or Griffin, but still.

Rockets just got Aaron Brooks.

I hope they don't get a bench.

The Lakers will have ex-#Knick Shawne Williams in training camp. Mike D'Antoni is a big fan. Williams worked out for NY in late June.

Here's an update on Austin Daye.  While nothing has linked him to the Lakers yet, they were interested in him last off-season.  Local kid, could be another young kid that they bring in who hopes to prove himself:

LAS VEGAS – Austin Daye has yet to work out for an NBA team, but the free agent forward told RealGM on Friday that he has been in discussions with several organizations.

“I haven’t yet but when I do work out, I’ll be shooting the hell out of the ball and be ready for whatever team I can go to,” Daye said. “Whatever situation I’m at, I want to get some minutes and be productive.”

Daye, 25, has mostly played sparingly in four seasons since being drafted No. 15 in 2009, and now he wants the opportunity to play significant minutes to contribute. Daye averaged 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds last season for the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons.

“I feel that if I’m able to get in a situation where I can play, I can be very productive and help the team win,” Daye said. “I just want the opportunity.”

How good can he be defensively? I see he's obviously quite lengthy, but how quick & athletic is he as well?
