Well now that we all know he is going to sit out game 4, is this the end for his LA run?

We have him now since the summer of 2009 and he only had one great year, which was the championship year in 2009-10 ! I loved him there and since then he changed his game, he got older and slower in the defense.

He has still a great personality but I think his time has come to an end in LA plus he can opt out of his contract as far as I know

What do u think????

No.  But he needs to rest now and not be used as such a huge "floor stretching" role by D'antoni next year.   Metta is best in the post, it's been proven time and time again.  That's where he should be.

Possibly coming off the bench as the 4 with Jamison leaving.

With Jamison leaving next year, unless the Lakers draft or trade for a very capable power forward, Metta is staying.

Since Jamison is gone our only power forward is Pau and possibly Hill(though he is best at center) and Clark is a 3 not a 4.

So Metta is staying most likely.

He should be the bench power forward next year operating from the post.  Not as the floor spacing 3.   But we've said this ever since Pau came back that it would take Metta out of his best position.

So next year, come off the bench at 4 and stop trying to make him a focal offensive point at the 3 in the starting lineup.  Simple as that.

Metta can still produce, just not as a floor stretching 3.   Been apparent since the middle of the season.

His game has been erratic for the last two seasons. I've always have some (drunken) angry words toward him when he messes up, but I feel sorry for the way his went out this season. He shouldn't of come back and might even be a worst player with a reinjured knee. Time to let him go.

Unless hes planning on opting out  and re-sign for like 3 years and $9 mil or something. I think the lakers will find a way to get rid of him. Hes a good bench player I suppose but where you gonna put him when you have Clark/Hill already coming off the bench?

He'll probably get amnestied if he doesn't get traded on Draft night. Im sure Mitch will explore this

Clark is a 3, Hill is a 5(best position), Jamison will be gone.

Metta would be the bench 4 most likely.

The problem is(at least when Gasol is starting) Metta becomes our main floor spacer at the 3... he shouldn't be.

Metta should be a 4 for the rest of his career.

He could effectively come off the bench at 4 for us.     But we need to stop using him as a floor spacing 3.  The best stretch of the season for him(well second best) came when he was playing the power forward position for us.   Even in the playoffs he's been ineffective for the most part(because he's out there shooting 3s and not in the post) but the most effective place he's been even injured has been the post.

That's where we need to use him from now on if we're keeping him.

Majesty makes some excellent points, but I still think the team would be better served looking for another option at the 4.

Arias's agent screwed him and thought he was worth more.

Majesty

I can just about assure you Jamison will be back.
Metta doesn't fit and though his intangibles are that of a winner, we need a 2/3 who can play with and without Kobe.

Ariza would be good. You look at Copeland for the Knicks or even a Derrick Williams who can be a better athlete, quick footed asset than Metta.

But anywhere from Aafalo to Iggy, we need something like that.
