Rockets backup PG.

Game 1: 27 minutes, 11 pts, 4 rebs, 4 assists 2/5 3s

Game 2 started today, 41 minutes 16 points, 12 rebs 6 assists. Held Westbrook to 10 for 26 shooting

Lakers had the pick that the Heat ultimately used to draft Beverley. In return, Lakers got cash...and the pick for Ater Majok. #whoops

Seriously, Beverley was going to be playing overseas as well so cost wasn't even a concern. Lakers just didn't care about the pick. #sigh

Again, Lakers originally drafted Patrick Beverley. Gave him away for some pocket cash and Ater Majok. Good lord.

He was a 2nd rounder in the 2009 NBA draft. The killer part? We gave the pick away with...

Especially since Beverley, Marcus Thornton, Chase Budinger, Danny Green, and Patty Mills were still on the board.

We've been desperate for an athletic backup PG who plays defense and SF for years...by giving away draft picks all those years are why we are where we are right now. Hope we learn from this moving forward

The one thing I hated bout Phil Jackson era, every time we had a 1st rd pick we wouldn't draft a young player. We always sold it!

And we pick up these useless players who we send overseas and never hear from again! now its biting us in the ass!

What's new? We're about the worst in the league when it comes to draft picks, scouting, & devoloping young talent.

The Lakers have missed out on building a complete roster over the years, but don't judge a player based on a few games.

Remember when people loved Norris Cole? Yeah.

I'll admit I haven't seen much of him. I'm just making a general point about not overrating players based on a few games. People go overboard with players after a few good performances.

Everybody loved Earl Clark after he played his first few games with us. He's even had some success with Orlando. But, he's obviously not nearly as good as he looked in those games.

No one cared about Patrick Beverly till he had 2 good games in the playoffs and suddenly the "Lakers missed out!!"

If it was as common knowledge as some would want to act like I'd have loved to have seen those posters previous Patrick Beverly threads about how we missed out on the guy BEFORE his two good games. :)

They made a lot of stupid decisions like these with selling picks and letting trade exceptions expire, it's partly the reason the team's in trouble when it comes to bench depth.

If not Beverly then any of those other guys, the point is that the Lakers have been awful at drafting any young, malleable talent, or even managing their draft picks at all, for years.

im probably 1 of the rare people that followed him since draft to europe to now getting important minutes in the playoffs..but his offense is unreliable and inconsistent..defense is his main strength, he's like a poor man's rondo..and the rookie rondo not current rondo

When the Rockets picked up Brooks a few weeks ago and he couldn't get any PT, it became pretty clear that Beverly was good, even though he only had a few games in the League.  It appears that the Rockets now have 3 PGs that are better than anything we have.

I won't speak for Beverly since I haven't seen much of him, but it's a push between our guards and Lin and Brooks. All 4 are mediocre.

Nash and Blake are better shooters, while Lin and Brooks get to the rim better. Nash and Blake are more consistent, while Lin and Brooks can have big nights. All 4 can't play defense.
