Nate McMillan has emerged as the front-runner to become the next head coach of the Detroit Pistons, according to sources.

The Pistons want a proven coach and have targeted McMillan, who has coached the Seattle SuperSonics and most recently the Portland Trail Blazers.

McMillan has an overall record of 478-452, with his teams going 14-20 in the playoffs. He has also been an assistant coach with Team USA under Mike Krzyzewski, when the U.S. won gold medals in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012.

Lawrence Frank was fired by the Pistons last week.

Seems D'antoni was right =P wonder who we'll get as defensive coach,

"Bryant had come to rage against the idea that Howard's clownish disposition could overtake the locker room, the Lakers' culture, and had warned Howard that he would never, ever let it happen."

There goes a chance of Nate McMillan being part of D'antoni's coaching staff next year if true.

After D'Antoni didn't hire him as soon as he got the Lakers job, that chance went out the window completely.

McMillan wasn't going to be here very long anyways, I expected him to be here for just this season then get a head coaching gig somewhere if MDA would have brought him on board.
