Lakers Coach Mike D'Antoni will be back next season, General Manager Mitch Kupchak said Wednesday.

"Yeah, he's back. I think he's done a great job," Kupchak told The Times. "There's been no discussions otherwise.

"He's made adjustments. He's been flexible. He's evaluated how he coaches as the season's progressed. He's listened to the players. He's very easy to work with and we think in particular since the meeting the day of the Memphis game, yeah."

BALLS.

So wait, your telling me the GM is endorsing his coach going into a playoff series where the lakers can win an upset? No way he would totally say their gonna fire MDA ass next season after the high the lakers are on after tonight...

well he should be, unfortunately.

It can't be helped, though. Can't play 3 coaches at the same time.

And firing Pringles would mean another long adjustment period.

What I can't like about this is that some team might make a run at Brian Shaw, which will most likely happen

28-12 since losing to Memphis.

That+injuries+no training camp

That is why Mitch says that.

That and getting the 7th seed.

He probably gives MD more credit than we do.

If he does stay..hope Eddie Jordan gets that Rutgers job, and we hire a dang defensive coach.

I just want Bernie to stick around.

Let Eddie go coach College.

Hire Nate McMillen or Kurt Rambis.  as defensive coach.

you guys are so stupid. Mitch cant say to the media "mike d'antoni is an awful coach I cant wait to fire him during the summer. wooah"

He has to be professional about it and be political with the media.

Absolutely.

Getting a defensive-coordinator, and a good one at best is a priority if this holds true.

MDA has been light years better than Brown, at least. I'm probably in the minority, but I'd still be willing to give him a second chance provided A LOT of changes get made.

Although, let's be honest. It's not like Mitch can say "Yeah, I'm gonna fire Mike D'Antoni" days before the playoffs begin.

Thats due to Kobe willing the team.

Like I said, Mitch gives D'antoni more credit than we will.

To him we closed the season 27-12 with only 2 losses at home in that span.

Kupchak given all that D'antoni was brought into and the constant injuries probably gives credit to D'antoni for changing his offense, putting Nash off ball, Pau and Dwight working together etc etc etc.

Mitch probably gives more credit to D'antoni than we do.   In his eyes, D'antoni could have done a lot worse and we finished the season strong.   He isn't gonna fire the guy unless he starts to fail early into next season.
