What about Karl Malone!? Hell, let's just make a Senior All Star for entertainment purpose.

Has T-mac ever been a good defender even in his prime?

Why the hell did we not sign him when Kobe left?

This have been an issuue all season. I think it started when we decided NOT to re-sign Matt Barnes, who is playing really well with the Clippers.

In this regard, MDA and Mike Brown are similar - they dislike some guys and love other guys. For some reason Barnes wasnt' a good "fit" in Mike Brown's system and wasn't re-signed, despite outplaying Metta by a lot. IMO this is the exact reason why both Mike's are overrated as coaches. A good coach would have found a way to incorporate available talent into the team.

We have issues with perimeter defense - Delonte Weste was/is availabe, but nothing happend.

We have issues with Kobe playing too many minutes at the Wing - CDR and T-Mac have been available, but they signed elsewhere.

Earlier we needed a big, when Hill, Dwight and Pau were battling with injuries - Kenyon Martin was available, but didn't get the call. Later he signed with the Knicks, where he really played well.

Has T-mac ever been a good defender even in his prime?

Never known for his defense. But his popularity in Asia from his time in Houston would probably increase the Lakers' popularity and easily pay his salary.

Don't bother wasting money to band-aid this first round exit season. Ride it out as-is and in the off season use Pau's expiring to quickly build a team around a Dwight and Kobeless Lakers.

Do you even remember what T-Mac looked like before he went off to China? He has nothing left.

That's besides the point. It's the fact that during the season we DIDN'T do anything when we had the chance and the need.
Delonte is an upgrade over Morris and Duhon and this team's achilles heel (too soon?) is perimeter defense - Delonte's specialty.

This guy is pretty much done, he was playing in China for a reason. He has been a non-factor in the league for three years...

NO, it isn't.

I'm not even sure if we disagree here.

What i'm saying is that i dont like the fact that we have passed on players that could have helped us (Barnes, Delone, K-Mart). And while i have my doubts on what T-Mac have left, i think from an econmoic stand-point it isn't a bad idea because of his popularity in Asia. Also, the Spurs would never sign him unless they thought he could contribute.

The two backcourt players we should have signed were Delonte West and/or Chris Douglas-Roberts...even before Kobe's injury.

CDR has been considered by all the wrong teams, aside from LA...and I'm assuming the Lakers didn't bring him in because he doesn't pop threes like a Meeks or Blake, and we saw something in Morris and Goudelock, found that we were too full.

West would have been fine alongside Kobe, and I believe he would have worked well in San Antonio as well, under Pop and Duncan.

Too late to care about that, though, and now, there's a chance we'll be out the prevent McGrady from reaching the second round.  He HAS lost a lot of his physical abilities, and basketball skills have minimized, but he'll be playing the Lakers...and there's no telling who D'Antoni will stick on him.

I just hope MDA realizes the man is 6-8 and can still shoot over players, and that the Spurs WILL get him open shots if they intend to use him against us.

Can't say he'd be productive against most teams in the NBA, but we tend to let older and/or more irrelevant players do what they want.

I don't really care for the signing for T-Mac. It's just the fact that we haven't signed ANY players to help us with our problems (defensively).  He may have lost most of his athleticism and he may not be the same player he used to be in his prime in Houston and Toronto, but as mentioned above he CAN STILL shoot over guys and he will hit most of his shots given the players we have to guard him(who the hell going to stick on Tracy McGrady? who knows with MDA, you might just see Steve Blake guarding)....and as mentioned everywhere...he's been closley compared to a Kobe.

T-Mac is not an NBA player anymore, nor has he been a quality one for a very long time. You guys just see the names on the jersey and don't think about the player that they are NOW.
