This is such BS! All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I've done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage. Why the hell did this happen ?!? Makes no damn sense. Now I'm supposed to come back from this and be the same player Or better at 35?!? How in the world am I supposed to do that??
I have NO CLUE. Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that
was. Maybe this is how my book
ends. Maybe Father Time has defeated me...Then again maybe not! It's 3:30am, my foot feels like dead weight, my head is spinning from the pain meds and I'm wide awake. Forgive my Venting but what's the purpose of social media if I won't bring it to you Real No Image?? Feels good to vent, let it out. To feel as if THIS is the WORST thing EVER! Because After ALL the venting, a real perspective sets in. There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.
One day, the beginning of a new career journey will commence. Today is NOT that day.
"If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear". Ive always loved that quote. Thats "mamba mentality" we don't quit, we don't cower, we don't run. We endure and conquer.
I know it's a long post but I'm Facebook Venting LOL. Maybe now I can actually get some sleep and be excited for surgery tomorrow. First step of a new challenge.
Guess I will be Coach Vino the rest of this season. I have faith in my teammates. They will come thru.
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Much Love Always.
Mamba Out

Inspirational as always.

I love how he starts it with venting to bring it around to the point he's trying to make and perspective of his message.

Some call it venting, I call it teaching :)

This is why i love kobe. Leave his game aside, this is why he's successful. He's a guy that if you can really learn from, you might change alot of things in your life..

Kobe , Kobe , Kobe ...... (in Stu's voice)

so inspirational. For all the bad things that happened since #5, he didn't bow down. A true warrior. I have no doubt he will come back from this strong. His heart is not fatigued, his will is unshaken. That is all that matters. Watching him closely all these years taught me many things. It changed my life. Looking up to such a figure, I understand him better, that is why I believe in him. He'll come back from this.

Don't ever forget:

tearss

that did it

i dont feel bad about texting my dad and whole family in the early morning about it (6-8am, varried timezones)

This is tragedy

Kobe is the greatest player of all time

my favorite player of all time

I cannot imagine the lakers without him

whenever he misses a game, it feels strange, it feels akward...

when i watch other nba games, there are other good players, but no one like kobe in the NBA (lebron and Durrant are close, other players like Rubio and Rondo do amazing things, but kobe it the all around 110% package)

i want to start a kobelight vigil

In case I haven't mentioned it in ten minutes.  LIl Jimmy and Mike Trashmaster don't deserve a player like this.

I swear Kobe heard my reactions last night. I was pissed, upset, sad, and emotional.

I use Kobe's work ethic to inspire me everyday. When I heard of his news of injury via others I was shocked and got upset and emotional. I was wondering to myself, "he's my idol, he's down; what do I do for inspiration now". He answered my question.

Mamba thank you for the inspiration. I realize that no matter what happens, your work ethic will always inspire me/us. You are a legend, not only for your skill set as an athlete but also for your desire and motivation.

Just like you, haven't gotten much sleep. Up every few minutes. Good luck with your surgery.

I am battling cancer and have been fighting for my life for over a year now. This week I have been feeling pain from the tumors, it hurts to walk. I was feeling defeated and thought the end might be near. Reading this snapped me out of it. Your words are encouraging. You are right, I need to stop feeling sorry for myself and fight. Pray for the bear, aka the cancer.

I'm done. I was holding it in,all emotions, until now. I'm crying like a little baby and I'm not ashamed of it. He didn't deserve this.
