To me Kobe made Pau. Rewind a bit to Kwame vs the Suns.
Catch and dunk or layup or get fouled or wide open jumper.
Kwame was just inept.
Pau had some skills, but every year I remember being disappointed in Pau whenever Kobe was compromised.

Pau is always Pau to me except for when he is injured. But Kaman step in for moments and play the role of Pau.
There is no replacement on this team for what Kobe does.

Kobe didn't make Pau. He made him BETTER, but he didn't MAKE him.

Kobe is this team's MVP, has been for years.  Pau was/is the perfect compliment to a player like Kobe but like I said, Kobe is the consistent key in our success.  It's always been about his teammates stepping up.

Pau in Playoffs since joining Lakers (Kobe in playoffs)

2008 - 17/9 (Lost in Finals) - 30/5/5

2009 - 18/11 (Champions) - 30/5/5

2010 - 19/11 (Champions) - 29/6/5

2011 - 13/8 (Swept by Mavs 2nd round) - 22/3/3

2012 - 12/9 (Lost 4-1 to OKC 2nd round) - 30/5/4

Outside of 2011 where Kobe was battling that ankle injury which hurt his performance, you can see the role that Pau Gasol plays.

We aren't in disagreement much about the role that Kobe plays, just about the significance of Pau that you seem to downplay.  We all know if Kobe is not playing at a high level, it's not going to end in success.

Kobe on the high dive aside from doing it twice

I was going to do a flip, but I said, ‘Nah, I probably shouldn’t.’

^HA! Good thing Kobe thinks before acting. :yikes: I'd be so mad if he went Andrew Bynum mode and (re)injured himself off of something stupid lol

Kobe's never going to be 100%.  Hasn't been for years now.

Pau was a 1 time All Star before kobe

a career 18/8 guy who played with very good skill but very little heart.

He had that SOFT label far before being a Laker. no wins in the playoffs and once Coach hubie Brown left , no where close to the playoffs

btw, when he made thew playoffs, had guys with HEART around him like Eddie Jones, Damon Stoudamire, battier,James Posey, Mike Miller, etc

anyway

Pau was always good.

but , in my estimation, Kobe was SOOOOOOO good, that if you would have got him Jermaine O'neal and Billups, instead of Pau and Fisher that year-same result

Set shooting without jumping. No timetable on return. That's the latest.

You may find more updates now in the training camp thread about Kobe than in here, lol (no offense to anyone).

@LakersReporter: * @kobebryant went out of the country to have a medical procedure not related to his Achilles. He will be back early next week.

Indeed. Mamba headed for routine tune up of the same knee he had the procedure on in 2011.

Yes when D'antoni wants to run "small" he's trying both Shawne Williams or Wes at the 4(Shawne is going to beat him there)

and when D'antoni wants to run "big and defensive" he'll be playing Hill most of the time.

Those were the tweets you forgot :)  But it's alright I got them in the camp thread :)

Melo would bully him and LeBron would weight room his butt. Dirk would shoot over him. Durant, well, all he does is gets buckets. Lol.

''People that say 'You will never come back from this injury', to me that means they if they had this injury they would quit, that's what that means to me. I have to show them just as much as I have to show the people who support me, I CAN comeback, and by me coming back it shows the people who doubt me and hopefully it makes them reconsider.''

They do that to everyone though. Only team schemes will LIMIT THEM

Basketball isn't one-on-one matchups on the defensive end.

Mike D'Antoni is GARBAGE.
