I think Mitch is more responsible for making the trades happen. I get the impression Lil jimmy is more involved with drafting. Seeing as how basketball players are like horses and all. Aside from Bynum who else is still in the league the lakers have drafted in the last ten years? Sam Jacobson and Sun Yue washed my car yesterday. Pig miller detailed it.

Jim wont have much to do in the next few years then.

You may want to cross off Minny from the list, Kevin is having arthroscopic knee surgery, do we really want another injury riddled guy

http://www.nba.com/t...go-knee-surgery

Wolves forward Kevin Love will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee to remove a buildup of scar tissue this week and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced on Monday. Wolves President of Basketball Operations David Kahn said he believes the procedure will take place on Wednesday in New York City, and he expects Love to be ready for full offseason workouts no later than early June.

The typical timetable for this type of procedure is 4-6 weeks, according to the team.

“I think disappointment will suffice for now, I can’t think of a better word,” Kahn said. “But as he put it, I’ll put it in more reader friendly words, it’s been one heck of a season. He feels very badly about it, which is understandable.”

Love underwent surgery to repair the broken third and fourth metacarpal in his right hand on Jan. 15 and has missed 47 games since suffering the injury Jan. 3 against Denver. He had gotten to the point in his recovery over the past few weeks where he was putting up shots with great rhythm and looking much more like the Kevin Love of last year than the one who shot 35 percent from the field after breaking his hand for the first time in the preseason. He was scheduled to be re-evaluated with hopes of making a return to the court for the final few games of the season.

This procedure, however, ensures he will not play again until 2013-14. He will also have his hand evaluated in New York this week.

Kahn said Love has felt discomfort in his knee and hip for some time and discussed that with the training staff when he was playing this season.

“As time went on, with the intent of playing this season, the knees started hurting more,” Kahn said. “It got to the point over the last few days that it should be addressed now. It was affecting his ability to run, even. At that point we tipped the balance toward we should do it now.”

Love finished the 2012-13 season with 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. He made his initial return from his first broken hand injury on Nov. 21 against Denver and scored 34 points and added 14 rebounds in his debut. He played in 18 more games before his season-ending injury in Denver on Jan. 3.

Kahn said it’s a disappointing end to what he called a “lost season” for Love, but he’s confident the Wolves’ two-time All-Star will be ready to return with full health at the start of next year.

“That’s why we’re doing it now as opposed to the end of the season,” Kahn said. “So I think it’s been there for a while, and I think this should clean it up for the long haul. And I imagine his knee will be pain free and his hip will be pain free once he recovers.”

It's not about defense at the point guard. It's about rotational defense. The ability to switch correctly, rotate over, help the helper

Batum and Matthews solve that issue

Nash gets beat every single time though. Teams are really keying in on the moment Nash inevitably gets beat and make the extra pass or two to somebody wide open. Nobody on the Lakers can really play their men closely in anticipation of needing to help almost every time.

The way Nash needs help matters too. Not only does Nash get beat, he basically has no chance of recovering even with help. It forces switches, which lead to all kinds of mismatches.

You're right in the sense that no PG is going to stop another PG. But, Nash's liability on defense just causes a world of problems.

Arthroscopic is just to clean out debris, its a standard procedure after the injury and operation he had, nothing unusual.

I'll take Kevin Love in a heartbeat.  The guy will be out for blood and ready to jump back into the spotlight.

The best Pau can do is bring us good bench players. i dont see Love coming  here unless its an offer that brings future to minny while having pau ..

Love and Dwight? We need a fast, athletic point guard.

kobe !

It would most assuredly have to be a 3 or 4 team deal.

Yeah no question about that, but i just cant see that happening.. Minny could shop Love for better packages than getting a declining Pau ..

Yeah but they more than likely wouldn't take Love unless he committed to extending with them.

Love wants a championship, so unless they trade him to Miami for Bosh, the Lakers would be the best destination, also they'd get a very servicable center that would gel with rubio right away. Can't find many better deals that would actually make sense to them to a team Love would commit to.

3-4 team deal but very possible.

Yes! If a Pau-Love deal went down, we would need to amnesty Metta and get rid of anyone who isn't a rotation-player, including Blake, Duhon, Ebanks etc. - perhaps even let Clark walk.

It would still be a luxury-tax hell in the 2013-14 season, but after that Kobe and his 30 million come off the books.

With the injuries to Love, Pau's connection to Rubio, Love's ability to walk, Peckovic's upcoming deal and the status of AK47 i think it is impossible to predict what'll happen, but it isn't unrealistic to land K-Love.

Would they say no to a Pau-Hill-Meeks deal for Love and fillers?

I see the knicks trading Amare for Love , Boston could include a package for him . Spurs might take a chance as well. And maybe he stays ..

^no team wants Amare or his contract. Boston doesn't really have anyone outside of Rondo that's viable nor that would give the T'wolves a chemistry with Rubio and I don't see the Celtics giving away Garnett or sending Pierce there.

And who would the Spurs offer the T'wolves for Love?

Don't see either of those really.

Comparing to what Pau brings any offer from these teams would make it comparable .. Minny either can clear cap for love or trade to strengthen the team which Amare might bring, and from the knicks point of view, he shoots the 3 ...

Its all speculation but i wouldn't narrow down to the point he has no other option other than Lakers ..

If that's the case do a 3 team trade

Stoudamire to Minni
(Trying to duplicate Nash and Stoudamire with Rubio)

Gasol, Meeks to Portland

Aldridge to Lakers :P

I'd do that lol but idk if that works financially.
