Shaq was one of the few Lakers that were considered the best player in the game at their peak, he was the best player on three of the many championship banners.. I'm not sure if any Laker but George Mikan could say that. His finals performances were as good as any other player and he was the main reason for the Lakers ressurgence after Showtime. His jersey will be with a ton of great Lakers but there are only a handful that have done what he has done for this organization

He re-energized this franchise after the gloomy 90s. Thank goodness he was wearing the PNG when he was at his most unstoppable form. :clap2:

I'm glad the Lakers can let bygones be bygones and celebrate the success from the 3peat era instead. Classy move.

Congrats big fella. Even if you did leave a couple of rings on the table in LA when you went to Miami, you're still welcomed back with open arms.

I only wish Shaq had really committed himself to the game, no telling how good he could have been..

Haha I'd say Shaq committed himself to the game, his resume and longevity speaks for itself... We're talking 14 STRAIGHT years of averaging at least 20 points, he averaged at least 10 rebounds in every year except his 14th season and he averaged 9.2 rebounds that season... He's probably the only player to be ESSENTIAL to three different franchises going to the finals and put two of them on the map (Miami and Orlando). You could be a dominant player for stretches but his longevity is uncommon for a big man of his stature and this is while being the MAIN cog for his team for at least a decade.. He might've not been the MOST committed but I think his resume makes the notion that he didnt really commit himself silly
