Oh, the alternates to Metta are bad because of this roster. But in a vacuum, MWP isn't a good player in the least.

4th best player on this team and Kobe, Dwight and Nash are in front of him. But in terms of consistency, he's only behind Kobe and Nash, though you could say a lot of Dwights inconsistncies are due to injury recovery from off-season.

We will miss his defense no matter how much he has regressed on that end. Offensively? Meh

Pau Gasol is GONE

We will miss Artest. I am unanimous on that.

The biggest deal with this and all the other injuries imo is the fact it gives the FO another excuse to keep MDA.

I just don't see this team doing anything under him and Kobe only has a limited time left.

Artests injury isn't the loss of a Championship for sure, we weren't winning one anyway imo but the fewer excuses to keep MDA the better and this is another.

nobody is disrespecting him its just that the things he does on the team this year are replaceable in an adequate manner, he plays elite 1 on 1 defense but how many times have opponents let him go 1 on 1 defense? They try to push the tempo and run him off screens and it works.  Guys like Meeks, Blake and heck Kobe may not do much better on defense than he does but our team will do better on offense with more fluidity and floor balance, he was clearly disruptive in that aspect all year.  It was an up and down year for MWP, he was great but at the same time he did those ridiculous 3 on 1 fastbreaks or not passing the ball to Nash at some of the most critical points in the games, it was aggravating.

Just heal up and hopefully we'll see him in 2nd round of playoffs

MWP might be the 3rd best player on the team just because Nash is that awful defensively.

I think he can be replaced if other players step up. The problem is that this roster is filled with disappointing players. MWP is far from a good player, but the rest of the roster has been that disappointing.

I sure hope you are unanimous with yourself.  Otherwise, you will likely need meds for that condition.

I have, they are not fun at all especially when it comes to putting weight on it. I actually had to wear two knee braces at 17-18 cause of my knees. But not now. But yeah I know how knee injuries can be.

MWP isn't exactly lights out either, far from it actually. Dude clanks more wide open J's than anyone.

He also doesn't have as much defensive attention as Kobe and is wide open. Its funny in almost every thread, you take a shot at Kobe and fail.

Good point from Kobe about what the Lakers lack now that @MettaWorldPeace is out: "a certain physicality." Kobe ...

called Metta "a ferocious player" who could change momentum in games that way or by giving the Lakers an "emotional boost."

Remember how in previous years before Ron Artest's and Pau Gasol's arrival that Phil Jackson wished for a physical power forward? It turned out they got a finesse power forward in Gasol and added Artest's muscle later, too.

Invited by @LAIreland to deliver a postgame message to Metta back in LA via @TWCSportsNet, Dwight referred to Metta as "my favorite guy in the world."
