Ron should never take a dribble before a shot, actually he should never dribble. He, however, was compensating his weak offense by some good defense. Howard has been reproaching him lately for not rotating on defense.
Ron is better off the dribble pull up than he is spotting up, heck he probably makes more threes when he does that too. I think its just what he does that catches him in rhythm. Its the same reason Nash can make sideways leaning threes off 3 dribbles. More comfortable.

If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.
