MWP suffered a pretty bad looking ankle injury near the close of the OKC game.

This injury would come at a terrible time as Metta World Peace seemed to be coming out of his shooting slump and back on point.

Mike Trudell @LakersReporter
Bad timing for the MWP ankle injury. He's showing signs of breaking his shooting slump, hitting 48.6% in his last 4 games.

Right when we needed it.

Fortunately Metta is not one to let injuries stop him much like his "bunker mate" Kobe Bryant and as always has a different spin on the pain.

Metta World Peace: "I was doing the Harlem Shake and I twisted my ankle." He says he's playing vs. New Orleans

Hope so, it depends on what the x-rays show. But losing Metta would be a huge blow to the Lakers also waiting for Gasol's return and Jordan Hills season being over.

Hopefully fate gives World Peace a chance...especially now! Otherwise..we'll have to depend on Ebanks and Jamison to carry the load defending 4s and 3s while Clark sits...

...

Please play tomorrow and the ankle not be a big deal!!!

He needs to sit, theres nobody on the Hornets he can guard. We beat them already with him providing little to no contribution

You'd trust wing defense to the likes of Ebanks and Morris then?

Maybe you need the same reminder of how important the small things are the fans got while Blake was injured.

Throw Morris and Ebanks out there to be "productive" while MWP is out and within the week you'll change that tune ;)

MWP is trash, and unfortunately, the best trash the Lakers have at that position.  Signing him is not one of the moves Mitch would want to highlight on his resume.  He wouldn't be as bad if he had a clue about what he is capable offensively, can't shoot wide open shots, can't run a fast break, out of control on at least half of his post moves.  Like I said before, the best we have at that position.

Metta is a career 41% FG shooter, 34% for 3Ps.  This year he is shooting 40% and 35%.  He is not in a "slump", he is merely shooting his career averages, and as he ages, playing worse and worse defense.  Is he a better option than the bench scrubs who would replace him?  Yes, but its all relative.

agree, they just don't have anything better to replace him with.  This offseason would be a good time to address this problem, but they just have to live with him until then.

Plz sit him and play ebanks stop this putting up with mwp stank gm.

Perhaps a few games with Ebanks and Morris trying to "produce" for the team is what some 'fans' need to realize a few things.

And as far as people saying "getting mwp isnt something that should be on mitch's resume"

Without him we don't beat Boston and how soon people forget the injuries he dealt with.

How soon people also forget that injuries contributed to his poor play and how he's playing right now like he did to close out last year which is well and right on his career averages(better from the 3 actually)

He gives us 4 months of consistent solid play, has one bad month and people say he's garbage when in reality aside from Kobe and Nash he's been our most consistent and in our last 5 games he's been out of the slump people seem to want to hold against him.
But apparently 4 months of consistent good play < a month of a shooting slump.

Not only that but the fans will want you to play a guy that hasn't given us 4 games of good play let alone 4 months and act like they could make more of a difference.

But alright, throw Morris and Ebanks in to duplicate his production. You'll miss the 14 points on 48 percent shooting as he's been giving us lately in the last few games(many close ones).

Fyi as much as you hate him, he was part of the reason it got close and scored 10 in the 4th, something neither Morris or Ebanks would ever do nor be trusted with the shots, so more Kobe! Cause that fixes everything right? But let's act like his production means little, just like people arrogantly thought with Blake when they were so "sure" that Duhon and Morris could emulate his production and act like Ebanks and Morris can do the same.

Same lesson learned twice by the same fans needs to happen I guess.

When Ebanks on a good day gives you 7 points and can't stop anyone on defense without fouling them has no active hands and you get to watch Morris attempt to go 'kobe mode' himself while clanking more threes while neither of the two get you rebounds that Metta can and would nor steals and because of it watching Kobe have to play 45 minutes a game instead of 38 and you'll miss Metta soon enough :)

I remember when everyone wanted artest so bad after he and the rockets took us to seven games in the '09 semis. Boy have things changed. Can't say I disagree with you guys but he really is the best player we have at his position currently. We need him to play

I WANT TO SEE EBANKS. i think he's better than mwp; plausable, right?

Kobe and Randle led Lakers lead the team to a 32-50 record. the Lakers select Myles Turner with the 5th pick.

He will be gone after this season, and probably out of the league shortly after or rotting on someone's bench. Like I said before, it is deplorable that he is the Lakers best option at the position, but poo happens.

No. Ebanks is not an NBA player. You will long for MWP after playing Ebanks serious minutes.
