Tapatalk actually admitted that there were issues with embedded video, I believe. I read that somewhere.
Could be fixed in a new version, though, so we'll see.

I've been using the IP Board app forever now and everytime I open a thread it goes straight to the video and opens up safari and doesn't let me browse the topic since it switches over to safari. Any way to fix that?

correct. sometimes it doesn't automatically open, but when I scroll over the video it automatically opens the video.
