Thanks Notorious Arab. Good example.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not breaking any rules. Haven't had any MODS or staff talk to me whatsoever. Never have in fact regarding this in all my many years here as a poster (more than what my info says).

let the mods moderate this kind of stuff, we'll deal with issues should they arise
if you feel there's a serious issue, PM one of us, and let us deal with it, or explain to you why no action will be taken
members trying to police each other, regardless of validity or intention doesn't work.
i repeat....
back on topic please

He didn't even get severance pay? That's [expletive]ed up!

I was pretty pissed about how they treated their employees that summer. I still am not sure why they fired Lester.

Thanks to the OP for bringing this to light in the form of a stand alone thread. The information is on this board, I know I have posted it once and others have as well.
I wonder, does this sort of stuff change anyone's view of Jim Buss? The full story is alot deeper and uglier than just what the OP has posted.
Lots of supporters on here, but is it blind support or reasoned, rationale support? Jim has done some decent stuff, no question. And then he has done some really bonehead stuff like this.

Everything about this story is pretty messed up...wow
Posted February 28, 2013 - 08:58 PM
26 years and no severance pay.. what a slap to the face.

For all you "mods" out there, go ahead and lock the thread then.
Oh that's right, you can't.
Again, leave that stuff to us. Fact is that Cano isn't doing anything wrong. He's posting articles and putting them in the right sections.
technically speaking if i posted 100 threads in one day of random articulated articles in the proper sections nothing would happen correct?
ok ill stop there.

Feel for Rudy. It's beyond sad when loyal employees get crapped on to this extent. Embarrassment to the franchise and all its fans.

If you don't like the thread don't come in. Nobody is forcing you.

Personally I appreciate anyone who contributes factual information. I enjoyed reading this topic so thanks for posting it. I wouldnt have seen it otherwise because I dont web browse all day. I go to 3 sites and LN is one of them.
In regards to the article and the poor guy who lost his job WITH NO SEVERANCE PAY the key words in that article MOST of the fans choose to ignore is:
change in the Lakers' culture
We still don't understand the impact of Jimmy Buss being the man.

Accoriding The Times, the guy was "Too Close to Phil Jackson." WTF? An equipment guy somehow is to blame for the Laker's predictament? The guy puts basketballs in the rack for Pete's sake. Did he do it using the triangle?
Everything I read about Jerry Buss was good in terms of loyalty to his employees. When Magic came back after his AIDS, and then retired in mid-season, Jerry continued to pay him because it was the right thing to do.
So a guy that works for the team for 20+ years is canned because he is too close to Phil Jackson. And no severance?
What this demonstrates to me is the disconnect between Jim Buss and Phil Jackson. Once you understand that, everything about the season, including coaches and trades, starts to make sense. I suddenly see the light. I get it. I did not understand what was going on until today. Message received.
Spin this for me as to why this is a positive thing or this schmuck's firing enhances team moral in some way.

Who really knows what's going on in the front office. When these things happended Jerry Buss was still there and i dont think he would have allowed his son to fire a lot of loyal people because the son didn't like his sisters boyfriend. It really doesn't make sense.
I feel bad for the equipment guy, but i think we as fans blame Jim a bit too much.
Like John Ireland said: when we're winning and making good deals, it's because of the genious of Jerry and Mitch and if something goes wrong or we make a wrong (coach)-hire, it's because of the idiot son Jim, who hates Phil. I doubt it's that simple.
