Would our offense be better if Kobe got more assists?

It's not uncommon to see Kobe with as many as 5 or 6 assists in the first several minutes of the game, but then, to also see him not get his next assist until the second half, some times not even until the 4th quarter.
Now, I understand fully that assists require a teammate to score a basket without getting fouled, and that the assister is not in complete control of what happens once he passes the ball.
But, I'm just curious if people think that Kobe could become a more consistent assist man throughout the course of the game; and if so, would it have a positive over-all impact on our team's offensive and over-all performance.

I wanna see him get more, but it's not necessary for Kobe to directly get more assists. I'd love to see our team keep putting up great assist numbers though. Kobe could make a good pass that leads to another one that leads to a great shot.
A hockey assist. http://lakernation.c...tyle_emoticons/default/cool.gif

Our offense only gets better when our defense improves. Better defense leads to easy points on the break, or wide-open shots, and the other team being too worn out to defend us.
