By the way, here's what happened between Gregg Popovich and Howard during the All-Star Game, according to a source who witnessed it: in the third quarter, Pop called out a play, but Howard jacked up a corner three instead. Pop immediately turned to the bench and said 'get him the (bleep) out.' That was it, really. No extended swearing or shouting, just Pop being Pop.

Apparently no one told him it was an allstar game and big men do that all the time.

But it's okay for Tim Duncan to shoot a 3?

Oh well.

The ESPN talking head reported that Spurs coach Gregg Popovich cursed at Dwight Howard during the All-Star Game, a story that was likely exaggerated.

“Spur assistants who were in the All-Star Game huddle in Houston say the incident has been overblown,” wrote T.J. Simers of the Los Angeles Times.

Howard said Friday night that what Smith had told everyone “just never happened.”

“Pop was diagramming a play for me, and then as he showed us what to do he kept saying, ‘Blake.’ So Blake (Griffin) and I are confused, but he keeps saying Blake, so Blake takes off his jersey and goes into the game. “Pop sees me and wants to know why I’m not in the game running the play, so I tell him he kept saying Blake so Blake went in. He wasn’t swearing at me.”

Well, maybe because Duncan (not much of a shooter) is a better shooter than Dwight?

It's funny that Simers, who has made a career out of blowing things out of proportion, is trying to be the VOR in this situation.
