lakers schedule till end of march, and my predictions:
vs minnesota - W
vs atlanta - W
@ okc - L
@ new orleans (B2B) - W
vs toronto W
vs chicago W
@ orlando W
@ atlanta (B2B) - L
@ indiana - W
vs sac - W
@ phoenix (B2B) - W
vs washington - W
@ golden state - L
@ minnesota - W
@ milwaukee (B2B) - W
@ sacramento - W

that's a very realistic 13-3 projection (only real stretch was @indiana, but I think lakers match up well to their style), would bring our record up to 41-33, which should comfortably put us at the 8th or 7th seed at that point I think. So yes, I do predict we make it, and I expect to pass both Utah and Golden State to be honest, (houston #6, Lakers#7, Golden State #8).

Awesome. Very optimistic, but possible. How about this:

Utah's schedule:

vs. Atl
vs. Cha
@ Mil
@ Cle
@ Chi
@ NY (B2B)
vs. Det
@ OKC
vs. Mem
vs. NY
@ HOu
@ SA
@ Dal
vs. Phi (B2B)
vs. Pho
@ Por
vs Brook (B2B)

Looking at the schedule, they would be extremely lucky to go .500 in this stretch and could easily go 6-10 or even 3-13.

Agree! That'll be 11-5 - putting us at 39-35.

That's 5-12. Putting Utah at 36-38.

I only see the Lakers sneaking into the playoffs is if Utah falls, since they have one of the tougher schedules to the end.

Houston is very unlikely, they've been ballin' for a while.

I hope you guys are right. Chuck gave us a 0% chance that we'd make it, and Kobe guaranteed it. Make Chuck eat his words, right after he finishes his donuts.

3 important games tonight -

Golden State @NY

Milwaukee @Houston

Atl @Utah.

Hopefully the East prevails in all three, but most likely it'll only be NY who wins.

I just hate the fact that we even have to contend with lower echelon PO teams for a  7 or 8 spot.  This is NOT Lakers basketball.

If the Lakers make the playoffs, I'll applaud them. My expectations fell into the ground when Mitch said he was going to wait until Nash got back to evaluate the team.

Seriously, the Lakers have played some of the worst defense I've seen from them in a long time. This team has no business making the playoffs. I look at the Rockets and see a MUCH better team.

Our defense has gone from 22nd to 15th and didn't Houston just lose to the Wizards?

The main change I see with the Lakers is that we're playing consistent lately, our style is pretty much set. Even against Denver when we had no legs for defense we shot 55 percent and over 100. We just need to keep playing well and play good D. Those early losses really hurt us(swap out 4 losses for wins and we're in the playoffs right now).

Statistically we're better than the warriors so if statistics mean anything they'll start falling.

They got a rough march schedule while ours is relatively easy with the way we've been playing.

It's up to us to take advantage and beat the teams we're supposed to beat.

Like the Lakers haven't had losses to awful teams this season. They lost to Orlando, at home.

Houston has just looked better as a whole, and they have the season edge over the Lakers.

Both teams are 6-4 in their last 10. We have lost to every quality team we have played in that stretch (Denver, Miami, Clippers).  In the same stretch, the Rockets have beat OKC, Brooklyn and GSW twice (with some really dumb losses in between- the mark of a talented but young team).  Other than counting on Houston not to mature too soon and stop the dumb losses, what in that sample should give us hope?

To be fair, the Lakers beat GS and Brooklyn every time they've played them and beat OKC the last time they played them.

Yes but comparing the early season team that lost to the magic while still having no chemistry ot identity to the fully within themselves rockets team losing top the wizards isn't the same thing now is it :)
