Not at all.

 

If there's one team in the West that can catch lightning in a bottle its Denver or Golden State.  The Lakers would be lucky to even find a bottle at all.  And after this season, the bottle is all that's gonna help most fans.

We have to take one game at a time, thats how we fought back from our early hole to get here

We have a 10 game winning streak going vs the Hornets (regular season), hope it can continue with a Win on Tuesday and OKC takes care of business in Utah (which is coming off a LOSS where their defense and rebounding got owned)

They're still fighting to get out of that early hole, I don't know why you think they're not still buried in the same mire.

Getting back to the subject, I think Utah clinches it if they win 3 of their final 4, because I think the Lakers can go 4-1.

 

The Lakers can win this back to back against NOLA and a really struggling Portland team. The Lakers can win 2 of 3 against GS, SA, and HOU, especially if SA and/or HOU starts resting their players.

I agree with Fido on many points. It's just hard for me to accept defeat as a fan. I have totally accepted the fact we have a lot of issues and are not a title contender this year, but a couple months ago I said, you know what, lets just make the playoffs and see what happens. That's still a very decent possibility and I'm not giving up. I don't want my team to be remembered in history for all the wrong reasons. Simple as that.

We can win all three of those final games. If we are focused and play with a purpose the whole game we will win all three of those handily because they are home games. We're a much better team at home especially when we're actually playing like it's a game 7. Basically the Jazz' win today means they have to lose both games to OKC and Memphis in order for us to have a potential one game safety net for a loss or else we have to win out to make it. The game I am worried about the most is @POR. I really hope we can put New Orleans away early Tuesday so Kobe can rest. I also expect Nash to be back by then.

I don't think people get how badly Portland is struggling. They've lost 8 straight, and 7 of those were in double digits. It was yesterday that they lost the only game in single digits, but Dallas was dominating early that entire game.

 

It looks bad on the Lakers' part if they can't win that game. It should be the 2nd easiest game they have left. If they can't win that game, I doubt they'll do well against the 3 teams they face to end the season.

 

I'm not saying that a trip to Portland on the 2nd night of a back to back is going to be easy, but it is easier than the other 3 games left after it.

I stick to my original prediction of the Lakers missing the playoffs, I think the Portland game is an automatic loss for us and Utah on the other hand is only going to lose one more game (OKC at home) because their opponents are going to rest their best players for the upcoming playoffs.

gque24, Utah doesn't need to lose 3 more games. For us to have a chance they need to lose at least one game. In that event, however, we would have to win out to get in which will be tough but I think we can do it. However, I would feel much better about our chances if Utah loses two more games so that way we can have a safety net in case we lose a game

Nak, there's no guarantee Memphis will rest their starters. If San Antonio beats Denver which I can see happening, and Memphis wins their next game they would be tied with Denver and a have a chance to move up
