Are you kidding me , yes there remains a mathematical chance of making the playoffs but with the lack of coaching and play what difference will it make, if you lay an egg against the Wiz on your home floor? And we all know how playoff bound they are. Face it, it ain't gonna happen. They shoot horses don't they?

I found theses 'startling' stats interesting:

1. Free-Throw Shooting Anomaly

Despite all common sense leading fans and professionals alike to believe that the more free throws a team makes, the better off that team is, the Lakers have actually lost seven of the 10 games in which they've shot 80.0 percent or better from the free-throw line.

In those 10 games in which the Lakers shot 80.0 percent or better from the charity stripe, the Lakers attempted between only 13 and 32 free throws per game.

In the 10 games in which the Lakers attempted over 35 free throws, the Lakers only won three of those.

Not as long as Gasol is starting. He screws up the roles too much for his lack of production. We aren't a winning team with him starting. He needs to start on the bench!

I'm gonna make a prediction, if we start Gasol for our next 10 we go 2-8 in our next 10 and miss the playoffs.

Not feeling it - I said before that it's not a luxury to have a 3 or 4 game cushion (which we would have if we beat the Wizards and the Suns) against the Jazz, it's a necessity. It's a neccessity because we have two back-to-backs, as well as games against LAC, MEM, HOU, SAS, @POR and GSW - You have to have a cushion simply to absorb inevitable losses. It's painful to say it, but that chokejob against the Wizards could be the difference.

I think they will make the playoffs, but only because Utah is terrible.  If they don't, people will blame it on a myriad of things, most lately Pau coming back and MWP getting hurt.  Doesn't matter, they have no chance in the playoffs if they do make it, and really no business being there either.  They have one of the toughest parts of their season coming up near the very end, so they better hope that the spurs and clips are already locked in and resting people, very sad state of affairs.

The biggest thing we had going in the last month and a half when Pau was out was belief...even when we were losing games they were fighting tooth and nail. I see self doubt in there now. Not good.  I really want to see what we do tomorrow, if MDA still starts Pau after all he's seen last 2 games and the entire year, I'm in the fire MDA group. You know its not working so have the balls to make the adjustment instead of trying to please Kobe/Nash or even Pau himself

Im honestly worried. Utah is rolling and they own the tie-breaker. IF we lose to Dallas aswell it means we lose the tie-breaker with them aswell. Lakers have to dig deep.

Utah's schedule does look more favorable.

Utah plays   vs  Denver, Hornets, @GoldenState, OKC, Wolves, @Wolves, @Grizz

If the Grizz rest some players in the last game ... I can see Utah going 5-2  or 4-3  to finish 44-38 or 43-39

Lakers have  Dallas, Grizz, @Clippers, Hornets, @Portland (B2B), GoldenState, Spurs, Rockets

We may go 5-3 at best.

Not looking good now.  But that may be a blessing in disguise.

Utah doesn't have that tough of a schedule.

The Lakers is just as rough for them.

Utah Jazz remaining games:

Oklahoma City

Minnesota

@ Minnesota

@ Memphis

Lakers remaining games:

New Orleans

@ Portland

Golden State

San Antonio

Houston

And the Jazz, by winning today with the Lakers losing, are now one full game ahead of the Lakers (considering winning the season series is as good as an extra half game).   The Jazz need only to win two of those games to clinch it *Minnesota home and away are the likeliest wins).  Chances are the Lakers will win 2 of their remaining games at the most (New Orleans and possibly Golden State, otherwise their remaining games aren't easy in the slightest).

Don't know where everyone is getting this "Utah has a tough remaining schedule" idea from.

Lakers won't make the playoffs.

i believe we have the same number in the loss column, so they'd have to win 3 assuming we lose only 1 more time which is assuming a

lot

the jazz actually DID have the tougher schedule but as the schedule progressed the lakers failed to take advantage of utah losses which has led to that tough schedule being irrelevant

Utah still has as many Ls as the Lakers do. So, the Lakers need to lose one less than them to get the final playoff spot.

So, I don't know where winning two games and Utah clinches it comes from.
