Yeah bunch of internet tough guys running their mouth. I wonder how much they are donating?

It's sad that a nice gesture in this day and age gets picked apart by ignorant people.

Kemp and Ethier both come up with the bases loaded and strike out...

Now you know why we're in last place

From Bill Punkett's Sulia account:

Must-read strong comments from #Dodgers mgr Don Mattingly pregame seemed to point finger at
not only lack of "mental toughness" from his players but also at poor construction of the team.

"We gotta find a team with talent that will fight and compete like a club that doesn't have that talent," he said, pointing to last year's team which led the NL West by 5 1/2 games at the end of May despite a far less-talented lineup.

"I felt we got more out of our ability (last year). I don't know about being tougher but I felt we got more out of our ability.

"There has to be a mixture of competitiveness. It's not 'Let's put an All-Star team together and the All-Star team wins.' It's finding that balance of a team that has a little bit of grit and will fight you. And also having talent to go with it.

"All grit and no talent isn't going to make you successful. But all talent and not grit isn't going to get you there either."

While I agree with him, I find it amusing that NOW he is saying this and shortly after these comments, we find out that Ethier has been benched today with this reasoning:

@dylanohernandez 21m
Mattingly on sitting Ethier: "I’m putting out my lineup that I feel is going to be the most competitive and going to compete the hardest."

To me this seems like a coach who is making comments & decisions like a coach that is in his final day or days as manager. Also there have been internal discussions according to Mattingly about bringing up Puig or Pederson.

Ethier's days as a Dodger might be numbered.  They won't pay Ethier that much to be a platoon player, I think they'd rather roll the dice with one of the youngsters and get a good piece for Ethier.

Damn, Gonzo suddenly all the way down to 309. He was keeping it up high for a long while, but he's dropped dramatically. Not encouraging.

Going 2 for your last 13 will drop your average.  Just part of the game.

I'm never worried about A-Gon.  He's a .300 hitter and that's where he'll stay around.  He's only had one season where he batted .330 or better in his career so to expect anything above that is just unrealistic.

ESPN playoffs odds has dodgers at 5% chance to make playoffs...

Who still believes?

I do...

Too much talent for 5% chance

^ Wow, never realized it was that bad, especially on the defensive side of things. Maybe that guy really is on to something more serious.

Dodgers 2nd worst run differential in National league. UGH. We're not even competitive

https://twitter.com/...162466167091200

#Dodgers lose 7-0 to Cards. 18th time this season they have scored 2 runs or less in a game. 3rd time in past 6 games held to 3 hits or less

Yeah the offense is pretty dreadful to say the least more often than not. What's new?

Well at least our CEO didn't go out and say that Mattingly's job is safe for now or anything like that.

Oh wait...

If the Dodgers took most games this seriously as the one with the Angels and passionately, they'd be in a much better place. A shame they can't get themselves up more often to the level they should and are capable of.

Im trying to go to Angels vs Dodgers on Thursday. Angel stadium WOW ticket prices there are super expensive. Arte Moreno has some nerve charging people so much for a sub.500 team

Anaheim probably tends to have richer people than a lot of poorer people in L.A. around Dodger stadium. There's not as many 'barrios' per say in Anaheim as there are in L.A.

So Matthew Kemp hurt a hamstring again? Let's see how serious or how much it affects him overall if at all. As if he needed any more challenges the way he's playing already.
