I like it. 1 year is great too just in case he gets a major injury again or doesn't perform up to par.

Exciting week ahead.  The winter meetings start up and that's usually when a lot of transactions happen.  I expect the Dodgers to be very active

Some other Dodgers news:

Old bulldogs never die, they just come back in a new incarnation.

Orel Hershiser, the Dodgers’ former Cy Young winner and last World Series MVP, is returning as a team television broadcaster, according to two people familiar with the situation who spoke to The Times on the condition of anonymity.

Hershiser adds another big name to the broadcasting crew for the Dodgers’ new regional sports network, SportsNet LA.

Last week the Dodgers added former team infielder Nomar Garciaparra as a commentator. The Dodgers are also adding Alanna Rizzo from MLB Network to their pre- and post-game shows.

Hershiser, like Garciaparra, joins the Dodgers from ESPN. Hershiser spent most of the last seven years as a baseball analyst at the sports cable giant.

She's cute. Nothing out of this world or anything, but cute. Another Italian though, interesting, just like Miss Maggio.

Shame Garciaparra doesn't know Spanish though. Have they said whether they'll have or have plans of having a Spanish version for the Dodgers as well? If so, I would imagine they'd wanna' invite Fernando mania to that team.

Haha well it wouldn't be much of a competition because they have nothing to offer us outside of prospects.

I hope the Mariners make a run at Ethier, we can get some nice pieces that can contribute now.

It looks like we might be able to get David Price

wow imagine a playoff series vs Kershaw, Greinke, and Price.....it could even be better then the Braves 90's rotation of  Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz

"The MarinersRangers and Dodgers are the three most serious suitors for Price at this time, tweets Jon Heyman of CBS Sports."

"The Dodgers and Rays may be matching up on a Price trade, tweets Bruce Levine of WSCR. "

We have a second basemen.  Guerrero will be the starter next season.

CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Phillies are willing to trade lefty co-aces Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee. However, Heyman also reports that the Phils are not willing to include cash in any deal involving either hurler.

That's significant because Hamels, at minimum is signed through 2018 at a cost of $112.5 million (there's also a $24-million vesting option for 2019). As for Lee, he's owed $25 million for each of the next two seasons, and in 2016 his contract includes a $27.5-million vesting option/$12.5-million buyout.

This screams Dodgers if the Phillies are not willing to add in money.

I like Hamels but I would love Lee in this rotation since his contract is shorter.

Kershaw/Greinke/Lee in the playoffs? Yes please.

I hate thinking about trading Kemp. I rather have him fail here than risk him being successful somewhere else. He's one of our boys and I would like it to stay like that.

^ What can we potentially get for him though hypothetically speaking at least? Is his value still relatively high despite all the injury issues?

Kershaw/Greinke/Lee in the playoffs? Yes please.

Heck yes! Lee over Price for sure. Price is younger perhaps, but Lee is way more consistent. I'd rather have the guy who gets it done more often & can be trusted more. Win now!

Kershaw/Greinke/Lee/Ryu/Haren

Ummm, I don't know enough to give an accurate assessment. But if the dodgers are going to trade kemp to the mariners, the talks start with Franklin, Ackley and Paxton. Nick Fanklin can cover 3 IF positions and Ackley will take over Schumakers roles but with a more effective bat.

@kengurnick: Dodgers met with Matt Kemp's agent today. ESPN reports he was told Kemp won't be traded. Ned Colletti implied as  much yesterday.

Good news is he is weight lifting already.  He didn't do that last year rehabbing from shoulder surgery.

If you get a healthy Kemp, this team is tops in the National League.
