The only pitchers I trust on our roster are Kershaw, Greinke and Ryu.

Beckett/Billingsley can be shaky at times.

I'm not sure about Lilly, he seems to get injured quite a lot.

Worst thing for an offense is when your pitching puts you down 5-0 to start the game.  Always a uphill battle from that point on.

Matt Kemp since May 1, 2012: 85 games, 364 At Bats. 11 Home Runs. Power Outage yikes

The pitching staff can't be expected to throw shutouts every game.  The offense needs to do its damn job, regardless of what the pitchers are doing...

Exactly. The offense is the last side for the Dodgers right now that should be getting defended. They'd be around the Angels' place right now if it weren't for their pitching (not hitting).

I'm not saying they should throw shutouts every game, but when any team gets down by 5 runs early in the game, it's going to be a struggle offensively more times than not because approaches at the plate change and now from inning 1 till the end of the game, players are pressing at the plate.

The offense needs to do its job and the pitching can't be giving up runs like they did tonight early on.

Embarrassing that the Dodgers got lit up by the Padres. Especially after last week in SD, playing with no pride is pathetic.

Wish we could hear Magic's thoughts on how things have gone so far eventhough it's early. Certainly can't be happy one bit.

Yeah, because he had 2 separate DL stints for his hamstring injuries (2 weeks and then 1 1/2 months).  He's not going to have a consistent power stroke when he's missing time like that.

Dude has not been the same since he ran into that wall like a moron.  I don't think this can even be debated...

Look hes not even hitting well with RISP these issues go back to last year even when he was healthy and had the DL stints. He had a dominant April, everything downhill from there

Heres what I think. Hes capable of being an all star but he is not reliable.  We had Joe Torre bat this dude in the 2nd and 7th  spot in playoff games while having guys have half as talented as him bat in the heart of the order (Russell Martin, Casey Blake, James Loney).  If anything 2011 seems like a contract year fluke. Hes productive but when its crunch time hes come up empty too many times than not...healhty or not, 2010 is evident of that as well

Good points, I certainly hope that 2011 wasn't a fluke contract year but I guess time will tell on that one.

I think Kemp can and will snap out of it at some point, but I don't think he should be hitting in the 3 hole while he's figuring it out.  Crawford & Ellis have been doing an excellent job of getting on base out of the 1 & 2 holes, and Kemp is killing too many rallies by striking out or GIDP behind them.  Gonzo is producing, as is Ethier (somewhat) so I think Kemp needs to be moved down to 5th until he can start hitting again...

He's been benched. Schumaker in at CF, Punton at 3B. Lets see how we do with Kershaw pitching

Through 14 games, the Dodgers have scored all of 39 runs, an average of 2.79 runs per game. There have only been five 14-game starts with fewer runs scored by the Dodgers in their 130-year history.

21 left on base, but Gonzo's a beast. 3-3 including a walk. Batting a whopping 407 now.

The Dodgers exceeded my expectations and had an offensive breakout tonight with 2 runs scored.  They should feel very satisfied heading out on this road trip...
