Dwight Howard referred to an extended future with the Los Angeles Lakers when asked whether a balance can be found between the pick-and-roll game and the touches he needs in the post.
"It can be," Howard said. "It's just something that we all have to work on. Guys have to have more trust in what I can provide on the post. And I just have to get more comfortable down there playing out the post.

"It's really the first year that I really haven't had an opportunity to really get as comfortable as I want to on the box -- to where I can really read the defense, read my man, make moves and play off of it, sort of like how I did in Orlando.

"But there's still time for improvement. We have years to play with each other, so it's a learning process."

Anything can happen from now till summer. Unless he signs nothing is guaranteed, but I'm confident he'll remain a Laker.

See Dwight, it wasn't that hard was it?

Whether he means it or not, all it takes is little statements like this to ease Laker Nation and quiet ESPN.

Next will be "Kobe and Dwight like each other too much and Dwight is having way too much fun".

If he plays like he did last night, I would look forward to "years" with him. As far as I am concerned, it should not just be his decision whether he stays or goes. He has something to prove the last 25 or so games of this year. He should play like its a contract year, because it is.

i hope you're not referring to Dwight's agent, he's probably the biggest advocate of DH resigning with LA

Yes I mean Dwight's agent, and no it has nothing to do with him resigning in LA, has to do with the negotiation process which is what has kept Dwight's mouth shut.

Agents don't like this type of declaration. It makes negotiating more difficult. What if Dwight wants a no trade clause etc. have to have leverage in order to get the best deal possible

agents are all about money.

since he is in the last year of his current contract as a Laker, only LA can offer him a max contract of 5 years and roughly 118-120 million. The most any other team can offer him is 88-90 million for 4 years. Add that to the fact that the Lakers have made it clear Dwight is our future, we can pretty much assume we're gonna throw a max contract at him.

so what negotiations need to be made? that doesn't even touch the fact that LA is the media capital of the world, and DH (and his agent) can capitalize on way more then just the NBA.

It's clear Fegan only cares about monetary interests, so despite the leverage he seeks through "controlling" Dwight's future free agency, there's really only one option. He probably had significant interests in Brooklyn, hence the whole shenanigan with the Nets.
