Even as he approaches his 50th birthday, Michael Jordan can still play. And the No. 2 pick in the draft will be the first to admit it.

Charlotte Bobcats rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist confessed Friday that Jordan beat him in a one-on-one game.

"It was hard for me," Kidd-Gilchrist, almost 20, told USA Today before the Rising Stars Challenge rookie-sophomore game at All-Star Weekend. "I lost. I lost to a 50-year-old guy. ... He's the greatest man that ever played the game.

"Oh, yeah. He's good."

How about taking it easy to make the boss look good? The 6-foot-7 rookie out of Kentucky said that wasn't the case.

"No. I didn't allow him to beat me," he told CSNHouston. "Because that's my boss? Nah."

Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 9.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game this season.

Not really. Im sure MJ could still avg around 15 in the league today even at 50. MJ still has his jumper, and footwork doesnt go away with age.

All I want for Christmas is a Laker girl :D

50 years old, yes you never lose your ability to score..but nba, the highelst level of basketball..up against those athletes..im sorry, unless he gets wide open looks, he's not scoring much, i doubt he can pull any quick moves in the post anymore which would be his only realistic advantage in the game today, and he for sure cant get up to shoot over taller defenders

he wouldnt be on the floor long enough to average even 6-7 pts

the bobcats are literally a d-league team in the nba, he can whoop all the ass he wants in practice, it doesnt equate to actual ability to still play in the league in the current game

im sure maradona can embarass defenders 1 on 1 even now in practice or pickup, doesn't mean he can play for argentina off the bench

Depends what team he was on, if he was on a team getting left open then I think he could hit double digits, but don't expect defense or shot creation

So wait he could whoop anyones ass on the bobcats, but wouldnt avg more then 7 points? How is that possible if there are 7 players on the bobcats roster that drop more than 7 a game?

MJ would still be able to put his back to the basket and hit a 15 ft fadeaway with a defender in his face, no doubt in my mind. The trainer of the bobcats said he believes that if MJ came back he would be the best player on the bobcats. MJ would still be able to knock down his jumpers as well. Of course he isnt gonna blow past people and dunk on opposing centers, but his skill set is still there where he can ball and apprently can take an athletic and taller defender on a 1 on 1 and win.

1 on 1 is different than a nba game.

Obviosuly but he showed he can still take a scrappy long defender and beat him, on top of wide open looks he would get just like any player, he could drop 15. His trainer just said that he thinks MJ would still drop 20 today. I dont see how people dont think MJ could get a defender in the post and use foot work to still get good looks. Even at 50 Im sure his footwork and fadeaway shot is still there. We are talking about MJ here at 50 a normal person I would agree, but MJ still works out and was and still is a freak of nature.

All I want for Christmas is a Laker girl :D
