Yes, in today's league where a PG is the most important position and a C is the least important position...

Want to re-think that facepalm?

Want to re think your statement? Theirs the league, then theirs the lakers. Lakers most times then none have a center.

Funny you say that. Considering the last 10 champions hardly has a dominant PG
2012 heat - Lebron, wade, Bosh
2011 mavs- Dirk, chandler, terry
2009/2010 lakers- Kobe, Pau, Odom
2008 celtics - KG, pierce, Allen
2007 Spues - Duncan, ginobli, Parker
2006 Heat - Wade, Shaq
2005 Spurs- Duncan, ginobli, Bowen, Parker
2004 pistons - too balanced
2003 spurs - Duncan by himself lol
2000-2002 lakers - Kobe and Shaq
1999 spurs- Duncan and Robinson
1990-1999 bulls Jordan and Pippen

Players are in order of importance for that year they won it... The closest a dominant pg dominated champion was the 2007 spurs, where Parker started to shine, but we all know that's Duncan's team.

SOOO Yes clearly this is a PG OR WIN NOTHING LEAGUE....
Laker fan for life.

You don't trade Dwight unless you're sure he's leaving.

Despite all of the media buzz, and these funny rumors about how he never wanted to be here (and Hakeem saying he did, and I'll believe Hakeem because he's not a reporter, seeking hits)...I don't see why Dwight leaves $30 million on the table AND a chance to be the main superstar player (once Kobe retires) for the greatest franchise in the NBA.

Now, what if Howard tells Mitch he wants to leave in the summer? Doesn't seem likely he would, but players DO make these statements. Well, then you get Rondo, possibly MarShon Brooks along with him (in a three-way deal).

With Dwight you can never be sure of anything, but when you look at everything he's been saying, his demeanor and diva-like attitude i think the chance of him leaving is pretty high.
Dwight would be the main superstar in Dallas, Atlanta, Brooklyn and Houston. In LA he would always be second to Kobe, despite what Kobe says. Also, Kobe may stick around for more than just next season.
He also wouldn't leave 30 million on the table - only 28.1 million and that's only if he choses to retire after the 4th year, which he wont. In reality, after four years Dwight is only about 30 and could potentially sign another max deal.
I also think we could get a hell of a lot more than Rondo and Marshon Brooks for Dwight. Other than the obvious (Dal, Hou, Nets, Atl) i think NY, Celts and even GS and Chicago would be interested, regardless of what they officially say.

It's funny that Clippers might actually help into getting us Rondo. Pincus and some others were twiting about it today. If Clips agree to send DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe for KG, Boston will think about shipping Rondo and at that point a Pau <-> Rondo trade could be possible. The key here is that how willing the Clippers are to the idea of parting with Bledsoe. They might actually consider it now that Billups has returned. Bledsoe won't sign with Clippers when the time comes, he is a quality PG and can find $ in the market easily. So, I think in a funny way this could end up unraveling like domino falling.

Trade 1

Clippers get Kevin Garnett and a future 2nd round pick
Celtics get Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan

Trade 2

Lakers get Rajon Rondo and Brandon Bass
Celtics get Pau Gasol

Lakers (next season)

Rondo / Nash
Kobe / Nash / Meeks
MWP / Kobe
Clark / Hill / Bass
Howard / Hill

Celtics

Bledsoe / Terry
Bradley / Lee
Pierce / Green
Pau / Sullinger
Jordan / Pau

Clippers

Paul / Billups
Billups / Crawford
Butler / Barnes / Hill
Griffin / Odom
Garnett / Hollins

Dwight for Avery Bradley and Kevin Garnett

i just threw up.horrible. dwight for a 1 and a half year player(KG gon retire year after next) , and Bradley is a one-sided player. NO OFFENSIVE GAME, and our 2nd unit needs someone who can create their own shot. MAN oh MAN

He'll be 40 next year. Even if you start him in SG, and move Kobe to SF his minutes will be limited as a starter. And who cares if he starts or not, everybody knows he is gonna finish the game.

Brooklyn has no shot...completely out of the picture. The only chance the Nets have would be to get him, from us, before the deadline. Otherwise, he won't end up in Brooklyn because they will owe up to $90 million next season in payroll, and the Lakers can't work a sign-and-trade this offseason.

Teams that don't have the money to sign him...won't get him. They would have to trade their players for draft picks, and shed salary, before doing it. Brooklyn would have to deal a lot, and that's assuming people would actually take those contracts.

Atlanta and Houston are really the only two possible locations for Dwight (realistic locations). Dallas won't have the money (would have to trade Marion first, then let Mayo, Collison, Beaubois, and Kaman walk...assuming Mayo and Beaubois decline their options). Brooklyn will be far over the cap, and definitely won't have a shot at him.

Do I think he's giving the notion that he's headed out the door already? Nah. I think he's disappointed that he's still having problems with his health more than being upset with Kobe and Nash.

So if it's really true about a trade being discussed, does this mean they've already given up on this season ?

When i mention Brooklyn, it's only because it's a destination where Dwight would sign long-term, thus making them eligible as a trade partner (Would they say no to Dwight for Lopez, Blatche and Brooks??). Atlanta i'm not that worried about - according to many sportswriters, Dwight isn't really interested in Atlanta. Dallas i'm a little worried abouts as they could let Kaman, Marion and Beaubois go and then build aorund a core of Collison, Mayo, Dirk and Dwight. I dont think it'll get him closer to a championship though.
Houston i'm very worried about. They have a lot of good young players and could easily get far enough under the cap to sign Dwight to a max - especially if they trade Asik. I also think the type of players in Houston complement Dwight's skillset very well, without taking the spot-light away from Dwight, like some guy named Kobe does at times.

I hope you're right on your prediction that Dwight isn't headed out the door. I just have my doubts...

FFS I'm not saying that trading Dwight is an awesome idea. I'm saying that if the choice is between losing Dwight in free agency and trading him for pieces that still could keep the Lakers in contention in the remaining few years of the Kobe-era i at least would have to consider my options.
Regarding D'Antoni: He should have been fired yesterday.

Please forgive me if this is a dumb question..... but

I know we can offer more $ and an extra year this offseason to dwight.... so if we do a sign-and-trade this offseason, will the team that aquires him pay that contract because we signed him? Or does the cba affect this?

I know, obviously, when teams trade players they take on their contracts, but i wasnt to sure on this.

if they thought about trade hopefully it was b4 rondo acl injury. cuz if it was afterwards it just goes to show you mitch & company still are going down the same stupid foolish route = bringing in more injury prone/injured players. this sheet has to change. u fans have to stop wanting the same type of players as well.

Stop bypassing the swear filter. I believe I told you originally that the word you like to use was not allowed when you asked me about it. If I didn't, then I'm telling you now.
