Mike D'Antoni seemed skeptical that the Los Angeles Lakers might make a move before the Feb. 21 trade deadline.
"It would add somebody who doesn't know what they're doing and it could take awhile," said D'Antoni, who spoke with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak last weekend in Miami. "You're playing games you have to win and we might not even play them. That's a hard thing.
"As an organization, I'm sure we'll keep looking and talking and if something makes sense, we'll do it."
Louis Amundson and Kenyon Martin are among the free agents available.
D’Antoni has preached the value of giving minutes to players who fit his system.
"We need to play guys who know the system," D'Antoni said. "We could bring somebody in to bring them on the bench for a while. But that doesn't make any sense for us either.
"We're in a strange situation."

If the Lakers can land a player like Josh Smith who gives them a better chance at landing Dwight this offseason, they do it...they don't care about the short term goals nearly as much as MDA does.

I'm BAAACCCKKKKK!!!

It's been clear for a long time that this team just has fundamental problems that no amount of chemistry will fix.

Portland still willing to move J.J. Hickson, but hasn't found an appealing offer yet, sources tell Y!
I wonder if Portland would do a Pau for Mathews/Hickson deal?? Mathews is owed $6.9 and $7.2 mil after this year

JJ Hickson is another intriguing name available at the deadline. True PF/Double Double machine/can hit the outside shot

he praise his system so much yet the problem is the effort in both ends not his offense.
"If I can do it tomorrow I won't do it today!"

We only play our starting 5 and Blake, Jamison and Meeks. That's it.
Because of injury our depth is hurt. We aren't gonna win with 6 empty slots. So that's why Gasol talks are picking up now.

If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.
You should reach more often

Kupchak: "There’s not a way to upgrade the talent on this team. I don’t anticipate anything dramatic talking place in the next 2 days."
