Mike D'Antoni seemed skeptical that the Los Angeles Lakers might make a move before the Feb. 21 trade deadline.
"It would add somebody who doesn't know what they're doing and it could take awhile," said D'Antoni, who spoke with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak last weekend in Miami. "You're playing games you have to win and we might not even play them. That's a hard thing.
"As an organization, I'm sure we'll keep looking and talking and if something makes sense, we'll do it."
Louis Amundson and Kenyon Martin are among the free agents available.
D’Antoni has preached the value of giving minutes to players who fit his system.
"We need to play guys who know the system," D'Antoni said. "We could bring somebody in to bring them on the bench for a while. But that doesn't make any sense for us either.
"We're in a strange situation."

I am sure that Jerod Dudley can be pried away from the Suns for 2 first round unprotected draft picks in 2017 and 2018.

LOL...this isn't PHO, Toto.

If the Lakers can land a player like Josh Smith who gives them a better chance at landing Dwight this offseason, they do it...they don't care about the short term goals nearly as much as MDA does.

Why don't we just offer the Hawks all our unprotected draft pics from 2020 to 2039 for Josh Smith?

Although it is not a trade, it would be awkward if lakers make a move on him and fire him or something lol

I'd consider moving Nash. He just hasn't been a huge difference maker for this team. But, he still has solid numbers. I think he could still have some value, but his contract would limit it. Apart from that, I don't think there's really anything else the Lakers can do now. They would have to deal draft picks from next decade. Their TPEs are too small. There probably aren't any difference makers in FA either.

He's kidding, right? NOBODY KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

The whole "it takes time to build chemistry" thing has had one problem for the beginning: They never should've been this bad even considering that. When good teams struggled in the beginning, it wasn't to this extent.

It's been clear for a long time that this team just has fundamental problems that no amount of chemistry will fix.

JJ Hickson is another intriguing name available at the deadline. True PF/Double Double machine/can hit the outside shot

Portland still willing to move J.J. Hickson, but hasn't found an appealing offer yet, sources tell Y!

I wonder if Portland would do a Pau for Mathews/Hickson deal?? Mathews is owed $6.9 and $7.2 mil after this year

We should trade you Mike, doesn't matter what players we have as long as you are here.

The problem is we have 6 players on our roster that never will play. Either due to injury, Gasol, Hill or because of lack of skill, Duhon, Ebanks, Morris, Sacre.

We only play our starting 5 and Blake, Jamison and Meeks. That's it.

Because of injury our depth is hurt. We aren't gonna win with 6 empty slots. So that's why Gasol talks are picking up now.
