probably both Ls lakers always play from behind and once we get a couple games from the 8th seed we seems to lose 5 in a rowWe have to win vs the Clippers and Celtics ..

That right there about sums up how far this team has fallen.

^No disagreement, this is not the Clippers of old. But they are not exactly the 1965 Celtics either. They are a top 3 or 4 WC team (OKC, Spurs, Warriors). That is historically Lakers territory, but not now. So, if both teams bring their A game, we lose by 10.

No one beats us at our A game, remember we are the paper champions. We're talking a defensively committed imposing Dwight, a turnover-free Nash, a less out-of-control Ron, a hothand Meeks, an aggressuve Pau, and a closer Kobe. The problem is we have rarely seen the 'A' game this season.

Paper champions? On paper, at the start of the year:
1. Dwight is coming off major back surgery, not even scheduled to play until Jan - Yeah, we were not getting the best Dwight.
2. Pau is a slower, older less nimble version of the 2008 Pau - He doesn't have to be the '08 Pau, he is still technically skilled and most thought he would benefit from the Nash PNR.
3. MWP's 2011 season showed him to be a shot happy, defensively diminshed version of the 200 version of Ron A - MWP said he was at his best shape in a while, and we all bought it.
4. Meeks is a career 37% 3p shooter - No one was complaining about that at the time. Plus he replaced Barnes the brick machine.
5. Jamison is a known no defense guy - Agree, but Jamison was brought here for bench scoring.
6. An old Nash with a bad back that coudl go down at any moment - He didn't have to be the '07 Nash and he wasn't expected to play a fast paced physical game with us.
7. The rest of the bench sucks - Thats why they got Meeks and Jamison.

Either way, and with those problems you mentioned, this team was still considered one of the big three favorites to win the championship. Both professional analysts and journalists were saying this and we all jumped on the train. Even you yourself admitted to drinking the Kool-Aid. Of course, things are different now, and there are problems plaguing this team that few could have foreseen. Its dissappointing to now salvage an 8th seed during a season in which most fans were originally preparing for another parade on Figueroa.
