The Los Angeles Lakers have no immediate plans to add a free agent big man to help fill in their suddenly depleted front court, a source told ESPNLosAngeles.com on Monday. The Lakers have been discussing their options since Pau Gasol suffered a tear in the plantar fascia of his right foot. The situation is still being evaluated, and much depends on how much Dwight Howard is able to contribute with his injured shoulder, but for now, the Lakers are sitting tight.

The Lakers have one roster spot open to sign a free agent to either a 10-day contract or for the rest of the season. Kenyon Martin, Greg Oden and Louis Amundson are some of the best frontcourt players currently available via free agency.

:smh:

Sign Greg Oden!

Lou Amundson is not a free agent he is with the T-Wolves lol. Though he could probably be had because he is riding the pine there. Not that I really want him just saying.

The Timberwolves have re-signed Chris Johnson and Mickael Gelabale to rest-of-season deals, and have released Louis Amundson to make room on the roster, according to Ray Richardson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Don't want him anyways too.

Cleveland is offering Oden a 2 year deal with a 3rd year team option after the all star break. When I was in Dublin visiting family, we talked with him at the local bar.

Yeah, I think he will go to Cleveland also. Hope he has a injury free career from now on.

Was he nice?

Like always, he granted their requests with an annoyed expression, didn't say any more than three words to anyone, and then shook his head as they walked away.

After reading that interview i'm happy i didn't approach him when i saw him at the bball courts lol.

I wish Oden the best of luck. I loved him at Ohio St. But I wouldn't want another big with a injury history. Especially not one who has only played 82 total games since 2007.

We're down two big men and your solution is to sign somebody who's always injured? May as well throw money down the toilet.

Ken Berger@KBergCBS

Among teams that have internally discussed Amundson are the Lakers, Knicks and Sixers, source says.

Ken Berger@KBergCBS
Lakers and Sixers have roster spot, but have shown no inclination to use it. Knicks would have to clear a spot to sign the 6-9 Amundson.
