According to Jordan Crawford:

“When I first played with Kobe — they call him the Black Mamba — but then he was doing like a little snake sound when he wanted the ball. It was crazy. It was crazy. It’s like tsssss, tsssss. Like fishing. Tsssss, tssss. He do that. Everybody tells you he’s gonna do it before you play him — like, ‘Wait till you hear him do this.’ And then he [does] it, and it’s like, what? He’s really a mamba. It sounds like some kind of snake.”

Any videos of this? I sat courtside a few weeks ago and never heard it, but I wasn't listening for it either.

Was a video near the beginning of the season (a practice report I think) with dwight talking about lakers learning each others sounds for calling for the ball and one of the reporters asked him what kobes sound was and dwight said it was that snake noise and gave a little demo.

But haven't seen actually footage of kobe doing it.

Kobe has done this for years almost every game. Every time he wants the ball, he makes that hissing sound. He will probably do it today also. Just watch if Miami misses a shot and a Lakers player gets the defensive rebound. While running down the court, Kobe will make that sound. Lol.
