Steve Blake is our best backup point guard.

Before you can begin to fix this pathetic situation, you have to get rid of Pau Gasol and Mike D'Antoni.

If Ron is going to stay, limit his minutes and his shots.

Get rid of Duhon, Ebanks, Jamison

Get someone to teach Dwight Howard offense

Kobe Bryant
Dwight Howard
Steve Nash
Jordan Hill
Ron Artest
Earl Clark

Everyone else can take a hike

Pau Gasol is GONE

This thread was made cause we were losing to the Bobcats, if we had lost there'd be 10 pages. But we came back and won so... Heheh :)

I actually still a fan of Dwight's..He's not the Orlando Dwight by any means, but he's still making a significant impact even at 70% or so..

First thing I'd want them to do is sign DH long term...a lot of positive dominoes can happen just based off of this move

Convince Ron not to pick up his player option and test free agency...if they can hold off using the amnesty on him and saving it for duhon or blake then that'd be great

Let ebanks, jamison walk...I've actually grown to like jamison's contributions this season but he's such a liability on D..he hustles tho

Now you see if you can package Pau + Blake and or Duhon for a great - good athletic SF or PF who can play D and has good range..I don't want to name names because I honestly don't know who's really out there after this season

Use the amnesty if you have to on blake or duhon, assuming you couldn't include them both in the above trade

Resign Earl Clark..he's been a revelation and I was a big fan of his coming out of Louisville..so happy he's showing his worth

I would hold off on bringing back Morris & Sacre...I honestly would let Morris go really, but wait on Sacre to see how Hill is recovering from his surgery

After all these moves are done

Kobe
Dwight
Nash
Earl
Hill
Meeks
+ the new good fit SF or PF you got in a trade for pau

Now all you need is a scoring/attacking point guard off the bench...a will bynum or nate robinson instantly come to mind..someone who can attack off the dribble and has range and not scared to take on the scoring load with the 2nd unit

A back up SF is all you need next..preferably a 3 pt specialist who's athletic

I think all of this is doable..sorry for the manifesto LOL

You could probably convince Ron to not pick up his player option and instead resign for the veteran's minimum :P. If Kobe asked him, he probably would lol

Bring some damn YOUTH into the team. I want players who are beginning to enter their primes. Not players past or late in their primes. I don't want to trade or sign a guy and take in a fat contract, because summer 2014 is looking like a dream come true for Mitch and Jimmy, if they lay low and not take in any big contracts.

Who I'd want to stay..
Kobe
Dwight
Nash
Clark
Hill (depending on his shape after the surgery, he's one of my favorite lakers when healthy.)

Everyone else can be traded or let go/amnestied.

This offseason, we will either go big and try to land a big name to play along side Dwight for many years to come, or we'll lay low next season and create a new super team in 2014 with all that cap space clearing up. Don't know which direction the FO wants to go. If Dwight leaves, then we are definitely going to lay low and create that super team in 2014.

I think it is a little premature for this thread, but for the sake of discussion, I see the following happening:

1.) Pau being traded for a few quality players since his expiring contract will be attractive to teams.
2.) Amnesty MWP
3.) Not re-signing Jamison.
4.) Re-signing Clark.
5.) Re-signing Dwight (I actually still think this is probable.)

What are the benefits of amnestying an expiring contract player?
Just less luxury tax to pay? Don't think he'll get amnestied

1) Trade either Howard (deadline) or Gasol (offseason) to get a good all-around athletic SF and a stretch PF who can play defense as well.
2) Use the Amnesty Clause on Metta World Peace as soon as they are allowed to.
3) Resign Clark but do not overpay him.
4) Keep Meeks, Hill and Blake and ship the entire bench out of LA.
5) Sign a defensive coordinator if we are going to stick long-term to Mike D'Antoni.
6) Sign a combo-guard veteran using the mini-mid level exception.
7) Pray no more injuries happen.

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

Well there is a 200+ page thread about trading Pau Gasol that was made MONTHS before the trade deadline was even a topic.
