As much as I hate the Celtics, how does this deal make sense for them? Give up Pierce for Gasol?
Celtics :Pierce's performance has been underwhelming this season, and the Celtics need a low-post threat center who can grab rebounds. Also the word "Loyalty" isn't in Ainge's dictionary. Not to mention, Pau is a huge expiring contract next season. Celtics will also be gunning for that 2014 FA class
Grizzlies : Cheap player in Pierce, who's only 5m guaranteed next season. Also, they're in a win-now mode, and Pierce would help a lot, even though he's just rental
Lakers : Gets a young and athletic player.
Gay hasn't been playing well ever since he became the 3rd scoring option. Not sure how it's gonna be any different with Kobe and Dwight, but a change of scenery might do wonders for his game. still don't like his contract, though

Apparently Marc Stein from ESPN said it on air. Read that on another board.
If Lakers somehow manage to do this, I hope we also ask for Barbosa, we need another scoring punch off the bench
We need Wroten!!!! and the Grizzlies can get Barbosa

who the hell is wroten?
Tony Wroten Jr is the 25th overall pick in Last years draft he's 19 years old and is 6'6" PG if we can manage to get him in this trade it would be ideal because he get a combo gaurd we can develop and he is VERY cheap

The luxury tax implications are big for teams now more so than ever before, it really is a huge deal that is underestimated by fans. The whole "expiring contract means little" comment has no merit. It's pretty rare where you see a player of Gasol's caliber and contract size traded off before his deal runs out.
It is when you're unwilling to take back longer contracts like it was reported with the Lakers. Teams want expiring contracts to get rid of longer contracts. Combine that with the Lakers' lack of draft picks, I don't think it has as big of value as some people think. When the Lakers got Pau Gasol, they had other assets to give to Memphis.

no.
Lol here we go again.
He's good he dunked all over the Lakers the last time we played them and followed up with another good game.. I want to pick up some young talent since it's easier to manage them with their rookie contract and we have NO PICKS and it would be too expensive to try and land a young player in free agency with teams spending big bucks on any player that has had a good streak

I like it already, but if we can get Avery Bradley or Jerryd Bayless as well I will be...
Gay AND Bradley would be a dream come true.
