1) Memphis has been interested in Pierce for a long time.
2) Memphis wants to trade Rudy Gay.
3) Toronto wants Rudy Gay.
4) Boston needs a PG (Calderon) and a PF (Davis), which allows them to move Jeff Green down to SF permanently.
So you're looking at Boston dealing Pierce to Memphis, the Grizzlies handing Gay to the Raptors, and the Raptors dealing Calderon and Davis to the Celtics.
BOSTON CELTICS
C - Kevin Garnett
PF - Ed Davis
SF - Jeff Green
SG - Bradley
PG - Calderon (Rondo next year...smh)
TORONTO RAPTORS
C - Gray (Valanciunas when he returns)
PF - Johnson (Bargnani when he returns)
SF - Gay
SG - DeRozan
PG - Lowry
MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
C - Gasol
PF - Randolph
SF - Pierce
SG - Allen
PG - Conley

I would think, unless Memphis wants him, and has a plan to send someone over to Boston. So Boston gets Davis? Ugh.

Really wish Toronto can somehow get rid of Bargnani and or Kleiza...
Both those players are non factors

So will this thread be locked since the lakers aren't getting gay?
Anything can happen.. Remember everyone was 99% sure Steve Nash would end up with the Knicks? Yeah so much for that

Exactly, that's why I want them off the team. I hope the trade goes through and the Raptors and Lakers make the 8th seed in their conferences.

I don't see why Memphis wouldn't want him. Randolph is no spring chicken and Davis would be a great player to bring along to take over the 4.I would think, unless Memphis wants him, and has a plan to send someone over to Boston.

Yes I am, Toronto born and raised. Cali is my 2nd home. Sadly being a Torontonian means I've suffered through terrible sports teams...
But regarding the trade, I still don't think Boston is the third team in this trade.

Now as far as the Raptors go, um, yeah, the franchise should be contracted or moved.

Hey Toronto had the BLue Jays there for a couple years and some great years with Doug Gilmour on the Leafs.
Now as far as the Raptors go, um, yeah, the franchise should be contracted or moved.
I was born a couple months AFTER the Jays won the World Series...
Doesn't help that my favorite NFL team's the Eagles...
I'm hoping this can become a 4 team trade, include the TWolves (or Celtics) and the Lakers.

- Mike Ganter of the Toronto Sun lays out the Raptors' top five pressing issues as they inch closer to the deadline, calling their interest in Rudy Gay the "most likely to come to fruition" rumor, examining the return of both Andrea Bargnani and Jonas Valanciunas from injury, Terrence Ross' progression into coach Dwane Casey's crunch-time lineup, and the continued acclimation of Landry Fields. With regard to Bargnani, Ganter thinks that Casey may have to provide a significant role at the expense of Ed Davis' minutes in order to showcase the 7-footer's health.
- Eric Koreen of the National Post doesn't think that Gay is the cure-all answer for the Raptors, who still have many other important questions to answer regardless of whether they land him or not. Among those question marks involve the franchise's commitment to GM Bryan Colangelo, the need for more significant roster moves, and the struggles of point guard Kyle Lowry.

Raptors, Grizzlies Searching For Third Team To Take Calderon

The Raptors are reportedly building a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies for Gay around Calderon and Ed Davis.
Calderon is in the final season of his contract.
