The Boston Celtics have held exploratory trade talks with the Memphis Grizzlies on Rudy Gay.

More than one team has speculated that a three-way trade that would send Pau Gasol to the Celtics, Paul Pierce to the Grizzlies and Rudy Gay to the Lakers makes "some sense".

Pierce's $15.3 million salary for next season is guaranteed for only $5 million, which would make his contract tradable.

I never thought the Lakers would be able to pull off a trade with the Celtics, but...

Please. What are the Celtics doing in that deal though? Except I'm sure Pau would be much better under Doc Rivers than D'Antoni.

They were willing to give up rondo for pau. Not shocking that they would give up pierce for pau.

Pau
KG
Green
Bradley
Rondo

Built to annoy the heat as opposed to get ran over by them

I would LOVE that deal as a Lakers fan.

But Paul Pierce should retire a Celtic. I would be pissed if I were a Celtics fan, he's been there his entire career, through all the crappy seasons before the "Big 3". He deserves to retire as a Celtic.

But if some green blood needs to be shed to get Rudy for Pau, then that's the way it's gotta be. Happy to oblige, get it done Mitch!

Don't like Gay's contract.
He's not even a superstar

Can't imagine Lakers in a deal that involved Paul Pierce. That's just wrong. Gay tho >

Gay isn't a superstar but he's never had a mentor and if he plays alongside a guy like Kobe, Nash, and Dwight who knows how much upside he may have. Athleticism is something you just can't teach and the picture of him smiling and laughing with Dwight I saw on a forum seems like a pretty nice future.

Gasol despite sucking balls I think gathers alot of interest in alot of teams and I believe can easily average 15-10 with the Celtics.
Plus a 19 million expiring contract going into the 2014 free agency is very nice.

Actually improves all 3 teams involved. Heck, even posters in Celtics/Grizzlies boards are fine with it

Still don't like Gay's contract, though.
