Pau Gasol is privately expecting to be traded by the Los Angeles Lakers before the February deadline.
Gasol has been largely marginalized under Mike D'Antoni and is currently coming off the bench, though he is still averaging 30 minutes per game in January.
The Lakers agreed to trade Gasol in a deal for Chris Paul in December of 2011.

Im thinking the same thing. The only reason to trade him now would be to have a chance at a championship but right now even trading him for a few bench players wouldn't do much. Unless we get a great deal we should wait till the offseason for the really good deals. His value will be much better as well.To be honest I think at this point, waiting to the offseason in which he's an expring contract, would net us better trade pieces

Just because he'll be a free agent doesnt mean his value will sky rocket. You guys think he'll be twice as valuable if we wait.Im thinking the same thing. A 19 million dollar expiring contract heading into that 2014 free agent class is valuable, even more so now with the new CBA and luxury tax implications.

No I dont think he will be twice or even close but it is much higher. It gets teams who are rebuilding and would be willing to give up some good players to have a chance at signing better players in 2014. Also it helps teams shed salary much easier and with the new luxury tax that is very helpful.Just because he'll be a free agent doesnt mean his value will sky rocket. Lol but what if he somehow reverted back to his old self again and made them a great team? I know it's a long shot but I don't want them to take any chances. We're so close to passing them in titles and it needs to stay that way.trading him to boston would be perfect

Which means that the FO will probably trade him now, for the rights to Slava Medvendenko and a hound dog that cant hunt.
