Which team would win in a game?

Atkins
Kobe
Butler
Odom
Mihm

vs

Nash
Kobe
Metta
Pau
Dwight

Oh boy this is tough, I think it's a toss-up. What do you think?

Nobody on the 2013 Lakers would be able to stop 2005 prime Kobe.

I agree, plus Odom was quite versatile during those days, he'd run circles around Pau.

Kidding me? That Lakers team had Tierre Brown and Tony Bobbit. No chance our defense could contain them

Oh my God, I have a good laugh at this thread. The 05 team would OBLITERATE the 13 team.

With the way this season has gone, I've gained a new appreciation for how Kobe carried that awful Kwame Brown-anchored '05 team.

Just realized, Kwame wasn't with LA until the end of the 05 season. So it should Mihm starting center.

That 2005 team was 3-15 without Lamar (remember, he was hurt for 18 games). Kobe also missed significant time.

We started the season a respectable 24-19 under Rudy Tomjanovich. We were a playoff team.

RECORD AFTER 43 GAMES, 2004-05

Spurs: 34-9
Suns: 33-10
Kings: 30-13
Sonics: 30-13
Maverics: 29-14
Lakers: 24-19
Rockets: 24-19
Wolves: 24-19
Grizzlies: 24-19
---------------------------------
Clippers: 20-23
Nuggets: 18-25
Blazers: 17-26
Jazz: 15-28
Warriors: 12-31
Hornets: 8-35

So, both teams healthy...the 2004-05 team would take us in a seven-game series, and it's not based on just that above. The 2004-05 team, coached by Rudy (pre-Hamblen), held teams to around 43.8% FG. The Spurs (who were an incredible defensive team) held opponents to 42.6% FG that year.

That particular squad was top ten in both ORtg and DRtg at that time.

The month of April (no Odom, no Rudy T, Kobe playing hurt) turned us into arguably the worst team in the league. We were absolutely dreadful.

People talk about the 2004-05 season being a team that just didn't get it done, but that's a simple way to look at it. Once we lost our coach, lost Odom AND had Kobe out for an extended amount of time (and then playing injured), we were done. Before that? We were a playoff team that played pretty good defense, with the best player in basketball.

The '05 team had a prime Kobe and no Mr. Pringles. It's a no brainer really...
