How do you expect to win anything if you don't make the playoffs. Its not like we get a high draft pick if we don't make it. Because WE have ZERO draft picks.

For a team that is Championship or bust.... I'm pretty sure we all want to see this team in the playoffs. If we make the playoffs, we will be a low-seed, but our confidence will be really high - because of the fact we're going to have to fight just to MAKE the playoffs.

& if that happens....I believe any team, that faces us in the first round, is going to be wary of that.

I want to see the Lakers make the playoffs. Especially because that'll mean the offensive system has changed, so they will be [expletive]ing dangerous.

I don't think I seen any team ever before get super hot mid to late in a season and make the playoffs like the Lakers would have to do in order to win 48ish games so maybe if we improve that much then we would have a chance to beat those teams. In a way it would be like reversed playoffs and by that I mean play the tougher teams first, if we are able to knock one of those team off it would be an amazing moment to witness but with our luck won't happen.

Shaq was declining, but the whole team just sucked that season, I remember Kobe had to go to that 40 point scoring spree just to keep us in contention of the playoffs.

Shaq was fat and waited to get surgery on his toe a month before the season because he wanted to eat Krispy Kreme donuts all day and be fat because he thought he was god and he was unstoppable and he could just play himself into shape and dominate on a whim.

Kobe Bryant came into that season ready to dominate. As described in Kobe's latest sit-down interview, his all-around game was pretty much complete at that point and he was just 24 years old going into that season.

Yes of course anything is possible come playoff time!

To hear the type of hate Kobe would get from ESPN if they do not make the playoffs & he has 1 of his best seasons in his career = is something I dont want to read nor hear all summer long! So yes they have to make the playofffs.

With certain teams in certain situations I could see people not wanting to make the playoffs sort of. Some Charger fans (myself included) were wary of making the playoffs if it meant keeping Norv, etc. On the other hand, I want the Lakers to make the playoffs. If they get demolished in the first round, they'll likely STILL make important changes (trading Pau, if they hadn't done so by then, etc.). They're probably not firing MD after one season, but they can still make changes and I'd expect them to. I say this because the Lakers don't show much tolerance for losing in the postseason, so they're not like other teams that would think "at least we made the playoffs, we'll stick with this team". Firing Mike Brown after 5 games definitely showed that.

And furthermore, it's possible for the Lakers to do good things in the postseason, if they were to go on a huge run for the 2nd half of the season (which is necessary to even make the playoffs as others noted). This team with Kobe, Dwight and Nash plus momentum would be a tough matchup.

But with this said, it doesn't look too good for their playoff chances
