Here is the issue we're all hoping to make the playoffs but if we do (7th or 8th seed) we will have to play one of these teams, OKC, SAS or LAC. This would not by any means be an easy task. If we don't improve I rather see this team not make the playoffs than make it by a hair and just be demolished.

I want the team to make it but not barely I would like to see a very different improved Laker team and in that case I'll love to see the Lakers play a top team otherwise spare me the embarrassment of a very possible 4 game sweep.

Oh yea and forgot to mention we won't have home court advantage not that I'm a big believer of it but thought I just mentioned it.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. If we miss the playoffs that'd just be pathetic and depressing.

I've said it in another topic, but realize that in order for the Lakers to reach the gold standard 48 win mark, they must finish 31-12. That might be considered "getting into the playoffs by a hair", but the tear they must go on to make it happen would make them one of the hottest teams in the league. In that case, I'd welcome the OKC, SAS, LAC challenge in the 1st round.

What I want is more like this: Fire Mike D'Antoni, find a real backup pg that isn't the worst PG in the league, convince Jim Buss to retire, pay PJ all the money in the world to come back, and build a time machine for Pau so that he can bring back the 2008 version.

Not really not if we go on a 31-12 tear. Which we are not going to go on anyways. I dont see us making the playoffs really.

I don't think I seen any team ever before get super hot mid to late in a season and make the playoffs like the Lakers would have to do in order to win 48ish games so maybe if we improve that much then we would have a chance to beat those teams. In a way it would be like reversed playoffs and by that I mean play the tougher teams first, if we are able to knock one of those team off it would be an amazing moment to witness but with our luck won't happen.

Of course. I wanna see the Lakers win the championship and the only way for that to happen is if they make the postseason.

Exactly. Plus at least making the playoffs would be way less embarrassing than not making it lol. I don't know about you guys but I'd rather not have my team be remembered forever for all the wrong reasons.

Trust me its less embarrassing to not make the playoffs than to make it and suffer through 4 games with analysts explaining how much we suck.

I doubt the Lakers will need to reach 48 wins to make the playoffs. Currently the 8 spot Blazers are 20-19, 7 spot Jazz 21-19. There's no way Portland finishes the season 28-15. The west isn't going to be as deep this year, it's not going to be a year which the 6, 7, 8 seeds are all 48+ win teams. If the Lakers go 31-12, they could end up at the 6 or even 5.

The LA Kings won a championship as an 8 seed, why not?

Wait, so you'd rather us not make the playoffs instead of making it just because you're afraid of us getting our asses kicked? Yeah, it's so much better to not enough make it. Way less shame than losing to a better team. You know, because we weren't good enough to even face them.

I don't get the logic. There are no positives to missing the playoffs at all.

Without a question. The only reason for teams to WANT to miss the playoffs is for a lottery pick. Only problem with this is that the Lakers do not have any picks. The only team that would benefit from us missing the playoffs is Phoenix.

We make the playoffs, we have a better chance at keeping Dwight.

I have full faith in Mitch to do whatever it takes to keep Dwight. If keeping Dwight means getting Josh Smith, he will. Whether people like it or not, Dwight is the future of this team.
