Ya but you don't see many all-star caliber big men coming off the bench.Clark is the perfect PF role player for our first unit. of course Pau is the better player.
-this team needs defense - Clark protects the rim better./guards active PFs better(league trend)/guards PnR better(league trend)
-Clark goes and gets rebounds
-Clark runs the floor/cuts for Nash,so the offense wont be stagnant.
-and Antoni also likes Earl because he can stretch the floor
Pau is better suited for the 2nd unit, becuase hes a post player, and Antoni cant get two post players post touches.
Ginobli comes off the bench, Harden last year,,,basketball is about 5 guys meshing;not just the 5 best players on your team playing together and not working well together.
Pau "probably not" open to coming off bench

How is it good for the team?
Pau is a much better player than Clark. I don't see how that helps us.
Clark provides us with defense, hustle, and he crashes the board with much more effort than Pau. It isn't even close. Pau has been whining about his touches, his role in the offense, and other issues he's been having all year long. A move to the bench should theoretically fix these issues with him having a larger role on the offensive end and being the main low post option. However, we've seen this fail countless times where even when Dwight was sitting on the bench for long stretches with Pau as the main option in the post (like the GSW game a few weeks ago), it doesn't make a damn bit of difference.
The problem isn't his role in the offense, his lack of touches, inability to mesh with the system or anything else. It has all been mental with Pau Gasol since the 2011 postseason. Zero effort on the defensive end and a lack of any sort of aggression on the offensive end. Very rarely do you see him fight for low post position nowadays. Great players find a way to adapt to their teammates, and he hasn't done that.
Pau is simply [expletive]ing and moaning like he has all year long. It's nothing new.

Pau Gasol is not an All-Star caliber big man. Not even close. Off the top of my head among PFs in the West:
Blake Griffin
David Lee
Tim Duncan
Serge Ibaka
LaMarcus Aldridge
Zach Randolph
All of these guys are FAR superior to Pau Gasol this season. It's not even debatable.

Didn't say he was an all star. I'm saying he has the ability to be. Plus I think I heard that he is going to make the all star team this year.No way in hell is pau a all star. Not even close.

No that's not what I'm saying either. I'm not saying he has the potential to be an allstar I'm saying we've seen him do it, so we know he has the ability to do it. Kind of like Roy hibbert last year, or with Carlos boozer, you don't see those guys getting benched.Javale Mcgee has the ability to be a superstar but is he no...

Does pau fits with the rest of the starting guys ? No
Clark's athleticism and defense helps the starting line up as whole.
I think the coach and kobe have a different point of view about Gasol. Reality says Clark is better , but still the guy has to step up his game more ..
