Why would you want to get a top 5 player off your team?I saw a stat of what they are since the playoffs started last season. Shocking. Their hands are tied though. Gotta just tough out a bad season or two and get Kobe out of here and get some young talent to build with.

Portland lost today to New Orleans which makes them 25 - 28
Houston lost too against Clipps which makes them 29 - 26
If we win tomorrow difference between us and Houston comes down to 2.5 games ..
If we make a good run we might catch the 6th spot ( Lakers would be 16.0 and Gstate 11.0)
In a longer run, I think the Lakers will go 7-3 , Rockets the same , jazz 5-5 ..
Jazz probably will fall sooner or later , their schedule is really tough !!

A lone, sane voice in the wastleand of Kobefiles who cant see past their favorite player to what is best for the team.
Kobe is (present tense) a fantastic offensive player, still decent on defense, much more mature than in years past. Its truly amazing what he is still capable of at age 34. But the odds say it just cant last much longer.
Laker fans, our front office has failed Kobe and us. it has surrounded Kobe with old talent and predicitably hurt guys that are incapable of allowing a great player to make one or two last runs at a title. The FO has failed us by not transitionning well from one star to another, but rather trading for a hurt, cry baby prima donna that embodies everything Kobe and the Laker do NOT stand for and hate.
So, NoKnife's assessment is spot on.

B/c you're not getting the guys who are really winning this year. LeBron, Durant, Chris Paul, and maybe Melo.
We do have one of those guys but THIS isn't his year. Just like this isn't Rose's year( because he is hurt) and maybe Dwight won't bounce back next season, but I think he will. I think the LABRUm is an injury aside the back and it's difficult to express how BIG MAN play in the paint other than just looking at numbers.

If we get to #9, then Houston might tighten up a bit. We will see how Harden's ankle responds.
