Next 5 game schedule may decide if we are going to go playoffs. We are at a point right now other teams' results are directly important to us. Wolves' won't have Love for another 8 weeks or so. That's good news for Lakers side since they are sitting at .500 record. Jazz and Blazers are also heading into tough matchups.

Next 5 games for those teams respectively:

Lakers 15-20
vs. Thunder
vs Cavaliers
vs. Bucks
vs. Heat
@ Raptors
-----
vs. Jazz

Blazers 19-15
vs. Heat
@ Warriors
vs. Thunder
@ Nuggets
vs. Cavaliers

Jazz 19-18
@ Hawks
@ Pistons
vs. Heat
vs. Cavaliers
vs. Wizards
-----
@ Lakers

Wolves 16 - 16
@ Pelicans
@ Spurs
@ Mavs
vs. Clippers
vs. Rockets

If we can go 4-1, losing either Thunder or Heat game, we will have 19-21 record and let's say we'll also win the Jazz game with that momentum, it'd put us just one game behind .500 . Blazers could lose 4 games in their next 5 games, and that would place them at 20-19 record. Jazz have somewhat easier schedule than other two. But I'll say they may lose 4 of next 6 including our game, which would make them 21-22. And Wolves could very well lose their next 5 games.

So, as you see winning in short term could fix some psychological issues with help from other teams. Of course, we do need to break the 5-game losing streak first but I'm hopeful. At the end of that short term schedule we might look at such a view on standings heading into second half of the season which is not bad at all considering our situation.

8 - Blazers 20-19
9 - Lakers 20-21
10 - Jazz 21-22
11 - Wolves 16-21

Why should we pay attention to other teams when the Lakers can't win a single game?

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

because if we want to make the playoffs, the other teams need to lose as we win. First task is to catch up with them in win column.

Well,I have us going hopefully 4-1. Blazers 1-4. Jazz 3-2. And Minny without Love hmm,1-4. This would be good. If we manage to win 4 games.
Impossible is nothing.

Let's win 35 games and don't care about the other. Man we need at least 35-12, that's gonna be epic!
