Unfortunately, I think he is here at least another year.
For Kobe's final run they chose MDA and I think they'll ride it out with him.

Unpredictable, perhaps, but you can bank on a reluctance to admit mistakes were made - Blake, Jamison, Barnes, D'Antoni, etc.

But who is to blame?
People here seem dead set that it isn't Jim Buss' fault.
So whos fault is it?
Because the person making the same decisions now is going in the complete opposite direction of the guy who assembled our last 2 championship teams.

If you want to read into Mitch's latest statement, he said that Pau and the coaches are struggling. If that's code for Pau is on the trade block, then that should also mean that the coaches are on the chopping block.

Lakers last missed the play-offs in 2005. That year, Rudy T. left in January and F. Hamblem finished out the season in preparation for PJs return.
Prior to that, it was in 1994. Randy Pfund was fired late in the season (17 games left?) and Magic coached the team down the stretch and resigned. Del Harris took over the next year.
So, the last two times the Lakers missed the play-offs, the HC did not return the next season in the same capacity. (Hamblen was on PJs staff).

If we fail this season, and Mike D is fired, I want to see Brian Shaw coaching this team. I don't care if Howard stays. As a fan I'm willing to wait couple of years for the team to develop under Shaw. It is not the ideal situation to end Kobe's career but this is 3 seasons in a row we are either incompetent or unlucky and I don't want to see Kobe suffering more just to steer this [expletive]hole.
