Did you know that Bonzi Wells is available? Another 2/3 but he's better than any other 2/3 on this team outside of Kobe. Tough defender and capable scorer. Worth MLE.

Mourning, Mutumbo, Lindsay Hunter and Horry are also available...worth MLE??? No.

Did I forget anyone?

Bonzi is a good player when he's motivated and in shape. (I was thinking about Bonzi when I made that post)

You don't have to offer the whole MLE for these players... you can just give them part of the MLE.

Lindsey Hunter can be a solid bench player because he plays defense, leadership, and knows the triangle. Any of these guys are better than George's son.

We can also sign another player in a couple of months if someone gets cut or a buyout.

you don't have to sign them for the full MLE

you could use part of it to sign any of those vets you mentioned and they are better than coby carl, sun yue(I am not high on this guy at all.)

Buyout? Steph? Not sure he would mesh well with Phil...Kobe? sure. Phil? GP Part 2.

I think Hunter sounds good, especially since we're lacking at PG.

I don't know if management wants to shake up this cohesive unit. I can see Mbenga or Mihm and Walton or Radman being traded but who would want to trade for them? Do you think we'll go for any big trades this year?

Getting under teh 15 man limit allows us to send out a large contract and take back multiple smaller contracts.

If we are at 14 (w/o Karl), we can trade 1 (takes us down to 13) and take back 2 (taking us back up to 15)...

I think they are going to go that route...but that's just my humble opinion...(and wish :D )

ahh, I thought we were at 13 with Karl waived... my bad. Then 14 makes a lot of sense.

Maybe he'll get a spot on the Thuggets now, though he's gonna' have to get a lot more tats to fit in. I can see it now, George benching Iverson to start Coby, that'd be nothing short of orgasmic. Maybe that'd teach Iverson to take practice a little more seriously then.

Hang in there Jonny. :D

It seems that Phil trusts Sun Yue as third PG-SG, that´s great.

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

He'll end up on the Nuggets for sure.

Coby had decent game to be fair, but if the Lakers saw nothing in him that they wanted, then it's better to cut him loose.

Hate to see him go at least...he's unlike the new signings this season(which eventually got waived too)...sigh, hope he finds a new home or improve and come back soon.

Now that you bring up Horry GCMD, I don't think that would be completely out of the question.

His game at this stage and the Lakers' needs could match pretty well. The Lakers could do with another shooter with the amount of size they have and throwing Horry in for tiny stints to drain a 3 or two wouldn't be a terrible idea.

Not to mention another veteran presence and the absolute fan frenzy it would cause bringing him back on board.

Marbury has a tattoo on his head - on the side of his freakin' head!!! That should tell you everything you need to know about the guy.

On a side note:

Do I really see people railing on Yue right now?!

This is ridiculous, nobody in this forum has seen him play any amount of significant time, yet judgments are rendered this fast?! Please! A while ago everyone was complaining about the Lakers not cultivating young talent, now the Lakers have the chance to do that and win rings with a veteran squad, yet some are still quick to judge?

(One theory I have about Yue is that he was also a defensive signing somewhat by the Lakers. They saw his potential and in order to keep him from other teams and have the chance to see what he can do over a 3 year span, they hedge their bets)

Seriously, you can't be serious with the Yue bashing. Please tell me, you're not.

I like the idea of HOrry. Hell he's probably our 11th man out there.

Hopefully another team takes a chance on Coby, I hope he has a great career.

Horry? His game at this stage is horry-ble (couldn't resist...). I don't know if it was because of injuries or something else, but he was useless during our series against SAS, and just looking at his stat line from last season, he's nowhere near where he used to be. The only thing I'd see him bringing to this team is giving that hard foul when things aren't going our way.
