With Phil at the helm, this team would respond differently to every single game situation.

Good thing for me is we will have a clearer picture of whether the Lakers make or miss the playoffs after this month. And whatever happens, I have the Champions League to look forward to.

I thought they were making progress during the winning streak, and the games against New York and Portland were legitimately good defensive performances for any team.
I hope this doesn't become a trend again. In this upcoming stretch the Lakers have, they would get utterly embarrassed with this kind of effort.
Quite frankly, even a great performance wouldn't guarantee a win against some of the teams the Lakers are about to face.
I've thought a roster tweak has been needed for a long time now. When the Lakers don't play great team defense, this happens. They don't have the guys to play man to man.

However, a coach adversely affects a team's effort for better or worse.
With Phil at the helm, this team would respond differently to every single game situation.

Fido, you know there is a quote option?"Personally haven't been to a Laker game in a while and I don't feel bad about it almost one bit. With how much those tickets cost and considering how often this team is a no show and doesn't put the effort we the fans pay money to go watch and deserve (at the least), you're better off spending that money on much more important things."
I totally agree with that too

As seemingly always, couldn't agree with you more. There were numerous picks, but no rolls by either of the bigs. Pau was content to float 20+ feet out and Dwight was just lazy all night long. They were trash tonight.
Kobe might have chucked up some bad shots tonight (especially near the end), but he was at least trying to will us to a W. Our frontline (aside from Jordan Hill), played like D-Leaguers tonight. Just embarrassing.

WhatUSaid: Damn straight man. We had season tickets at the Forum from '89 to '98 (yes right between the championship years, it was a bummer) but when they moved to Staples they priced me and a lot of other people out of the building. And no, I'm not sitting upstairs, which is essentially sitting 5 stories above the court, and its steep as hell. For a guy who doesn't like heights, its pointless. So when I can get tickets its a very rare privilege. I got these tickets thinking it would be worth it. and right now its not worth it whatsoever. So instead of being frustrated at the loss of my hard-earned cash and my time, I'd rather take the money and actually pay my utility bill on time.
It's the "responsible" thing to do. Grow up problems.

You shouldn't need coaching to tell a 3 time defensive player of the year to not help off a center whose only chance of scoring on you is a jump shot 5 steps away when the person you're "helping"'s back is to the play.
Dwight was overhelping down the stretch and wasn't looking for his shot down the stretch. That's 100% on him.
D'Antoni doesn't have the moxy to "chastise" these players (particularly the all stars) much like Mike Brown.

I agree with you but this team is full of veterans. They should at least know on what's on stake.

Like I said, you're sour grapes still over the fact Phil didn't get picked.
Phil was not a defensive coach nor did he preach it. And we allowed 1 less ppg than we're allowing right now while under Phil. We allow 102 now we allowed 101 under him.
Dwight Howard overhelping off Hawes and not being engaged as he should be on the defensive end he's been preaching to everyone is not on D'antoni.
That's like blaming Phil for Pau going 12/8 in the playoffs against Dallas.
You can't coach effort. I called it early in the first quarter that Dwight's effort was off and he'd need to play better if we were gonna win. He never picked it up. Dwight can't come out like that after 3 days rest. Just can't happen, he really has no excuse. it's on him tonight. 7 Points against Philly while Jordan Hill was 5/8 with 8 rebounds. Dwight was 1/7 with 14 rebounds. HE was never looking to be offensive tonight. That was the problem. And then down the stretch he started overhelping off Hawes and left him for 4 straight possessions that cost us. This loss is on Dwight's lack of effort tonight. I'm fine with the guys shooting like crap from time to time cause we all have off games, but when you aren't giving effort on the end against a line like the 76ers and the Power forward off the bench outplays you against their defense then you are the problem. Dwight was the problem tonight and he needs to be held accountable by his team mates his coach and himself.
D'Antoni doesn't have the moxy to "chastise" these players (particularly the all stars) much like Mike Brown.
D'antoni who said that Pau was a better 3 point shooter than Morris and that they didn't miss Dwight after he got ejected because he wasn't giving them much of anything to begin with isn't chastising his players?

If we somehow land Dwight Howard AND Nash (which is one of the biggest reaches I've posted, don't think that will happen), then yeah...I have no problem with it, because Howard won't allow anyone to take Nash off the dribble 30+ minutes a game.
You should reach more often

"Fouling under their basket and playing without energy after two good days of practice is frustrating. It makes it very hard to win against a team that is playing with confidence."
